I saw that some time back ... sadly, if I had posted it I would have copped the usual avalanche of abuse accusing me of being a senile WASP

    ---

ANZ has joined other companies such as Coles and Allianz that offer similar incentives to their employees.

According to Fiona MacDonald – ANZ’s Diversity and Inclusion Lead – the paid leave will help alleviate some of the challenges people face when they affirm their gender.

When you consider the fact that trans rights can still be an election issue, I think we have a long way to go
“We have decided to formalise gender affirmation leave and give people six weeks of paid leave and up to a total of 12 months of unpaid leave to affirm their gender,” Ms MacDonald told SBS News.

“And that could be anything from medical affirmation to legal affirmation, which could include changing one’s name, to social affirmation, where someone changes the way they present themselves.

Paid gender affirmation leave is a step in the right direction, transgender advocate says
Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago ...

    6 weeks?

Remind me how many weeks you get for parental leave? Or marriage leave?

18 weeks paid leave? Wow. I got 3 days in Asia. Each time.

but anyway, if they give 18 for a father then 6 for gender awareness is at least within proportion.

Except there is physical evidence when you become a father.

If I worked for your company, and said I wanted to partake in the leave you so generously offered, regardless of the obvious fact that I was a heterosexual male, and you knew I was a heterosexual male, would you let me do it? Imagine the blowback you would receive if you denied it.

    From the article

ANZ defined examples of gender-affirming processes, which they said could include:

    • Social affirmation (for example: adopting the dress and style of presentation that better aligns with their gender identity and expression, changing their pronouns and/or name)
    • Medical affirmation (for example: surgery, hormone therapy or both, medical appointments, rest and recovery from medical procedures)
    • Legal affirmation (for example: legally changing their name and/or gender marker on personal identification documents such as passport, birth certificate, driver’s license or bank card).

    "Could include".

A few posts on social media, and the company would capitulate. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

I would take them up on that. At the end I would proudly affirm my gender is male.

Log in your gender workout wouldn't be a bad idea for a thread and should get a couple of more posters than Edmond on his sisters pushbike
