    A Daunder Round Docklands

A quick promenade around the piers at Melbourne Docklands while I am visiting a client.

The whole place is spanky and just built.

    Yeah it looks good.

You cannot see it well in the photo but at night there are 2 portholes where the skull's eyes are and they shine like a halloween lantern.

    Very nice Loops, cheers.

Out of 3 1/2 years down under, I only spent around a week in Melbourne.

Though had a cellmate in Sydney from there fpr a few months.

Don't know when you were here Lui but apparently this place was wasteland 10 years ago. I would not know as have never been west of Flinders St Station before, despite about a 100 business trips to Melbourne over the past 20 years.

Last night down the docks with the landlubbers.

    Fish and chips for dinner.

    A Daunder Round Docklands-img_20190211_211022_hdr-jpg

A seagull waited patiently for 15 minutes 1 meter from my feet so I felt a bit bad about not leaving even a crumb in the tray.

I could have hired an orange Aquadonut and had a floating BBQ out in the harbour.

Must admit all that concrete and glass looks a bit sterile to me Loop. I remember it when it was the main dock area for containers. Haven't lived there for 20 years now. A lot of changes. The old green tram brought back memories they were the norm when I was a Kid. My father was a tram driver in the 60s so I always had an interest in the tram specs. According to my father tram number 777 was the fastest. Still prefer the old trams. They had soul.
    Thanks for pics.

    I hear ya Hugh.

Yeah, it is a novelty to wander round as a visitor but I think it would get pretty old pretty quick if you lived in one of these boutique waterfront shoeboxes with a parade of muppets wandering up and down all day long.

Give me a bit of forest and some privacy any day of the year.

Some final pics of the trip.

Perspectives on the eye in the sky.

Apparently it is The Year of Zayed 2018 according to the grinning tea-towel jockey painted on the side of the Emirates A380 and no I have not googled that.

The horizon is actually at the top of the clouds. The dark blue band is the layer of atmosphere disappearing into the shadow of the earth as it turns on its axis away from the sun and carries the plane with it into the darkness.
