    im off to awstralia

havent been there for a while so i thought i might go see my old mum. about the the same time i thought this an email popped up offering me 18 days of work in the pilbara region of bumfuck west aussie. Right. i said to myself. game on. its sure to be an adventure but at least its in a part of WA i like. killing 2 birds with 1 stone really coz i was going there anyway and this way i get paid a bit after the aussie taxman gives me a rogering. im not working now after telling the sudan motherfuckers to stick it up there ass. time is on my side. gonna be good to see me old mum to.

Enjoy! What broke the camel's back in Sudan? Seems like a very harsh place to live imo

Hey BLD, please go and see Terry (if he's there in Oz and not Thailand), and see if the old bugger's OK.

I also caught a flight to AUS last week.
Northern Suburbs of Sydney is probably a bit different than the pilbara region.
My Dad's health hasn't been the best lately so I decided to come and stay with my parents for a couple of months.
His 90th birthday in August, so I'll stay here until at least then, and then head back to MNL if he hasn't deteriorated any more.
I'm lucky that I can work from anywhere on earth as long as I have an internet connection.
Also lucky that my Mum is still very healthy at 85.
Here she is playing soccer with her great grandson yesterday in the backyard. I'll be her agent if England is looking for someone to actually really "bring it home"

^I'm an ex-resident of Avalon. Northern beaches are superb considering they're part of a massive city.

You might take him a few books or transfer some money to his canteen account.

BLD can you just rock up on-site at a Mine these days down there?. I had an offer for a short duration gig on Barrow Island earlier this year, but the amount of tickets and courses I would have had to do before being allowed to work on the Island was a deal breaker.

no. pretty hard now. this company im working for have given me absolutely no grief so far. not even a skypa interview. im sure they checked out my references and as no one called me a [at][at][at][at] and i was prepared to fly almost immediatly they gave me the gig. they know i live in lao and they work worldwide so im hoping to make a good impression and get my foot in the door. they did ask me to get a police clearance which i applied for online but still havent got. they met me today and never asked for iNo drug tests either which is usually the case. i smoke pot occasionaly but had been laying of in case there was a job popped up in oz

The minings going of in oz at the moment. it was a few lean years but it seems to be back. no ones paying crazy money like they were before but it will creep up. a lot of good hands left the industry during the downturn and it will be hard to entice them back. im happy with my day rate but thats all i get. no lurks n perks. i probably should just retire and work on my beer gut but figure i might as well keep workin if theres fuckers out there willing to pay

^Oil industry is the same, starting to pick up rapidly around the world now after a few years of Oil Companies finding ways to stay in the black that didn't involve spending money on exploration. Now the price is steadily rising, but they've all burned 3-4 years worth of reserves with no new discoveries to replenish stocks. Their problem now is, the contractors that've riden the storm out without closing their doors will be charging TOP dollar for shit crews full of 3rd world newbies with no experience. So many old hands have said "fuck this, I'm out".

It has all the makings of another great picture thread. I've always wanted to check out the Great Barrier Reef before it's gone. It's in the bucket list of things to do before it's too late.

Hope it all goes well for you. Maybe Terry will loan you his camper. Shrimps on the barbie mate. Enjoy your travels.
