Yes and no. It's about money to the governments that want companies like Google to pay. For Google it's more about freedom to operate as usual, flaunting local rules and regulations pertaining to earnings.

I can't see how tax departments can make it work and who would police the stream, but it isn't unreasonable to expect a company to pay a tax on revenue.

Amazon . . . yea, let's not even go there

Wild sheep rescued in Victoria has 35kg of fleece shorn off

From the 'Only in Australia' File #001-13192882-16x9-xlarge-jpg

A wild and ailing sheep found in Victoria, and named Baarack by rescuers, has yielded a fleece weighing more than 35 kilograms — nearly half the weight of an adult kangaroo.

    Here

Apparently, if they shaved down Mendip, the hair weight would be about the same

The version I read said if they hadn't rescued him he would soon starve to death being unable to move under that weight.

Will they bury or eat him when his time is up?

    .....

Baarack is now settling in with other rescued sheep at Edgar's Mission."(It) all goes to show what incredibly resilient and brave animals sheep really are, and we could not love them any more if we tried," he said.

can't see anything brave about being lost for 5 years and weighed down by growth, mind you I suppose it would be quite brave if he took out a fortified bunker or something.

Scott Morrison First Victim Of ‘Job Dobber’ Hotline, After Tip-Off Reveals He’s Avoided Work For A Whole Year

The government’s new ‘Job Dobber’ hotline has unearthed its first case, after an anonymous caller revealed that the Prime Minister has evaded work opportunities for at least the past twelve months.

According to the tip-off, Mr Morrison – who relies on government payments – was offered the opportunity to work on several occasions but turned down each one.
“We offered him some Prime Ministering work last December during the bushfires, but he said he wasn’t available. We gave him the opportunity to do some national leadership work during the Victorian lockdown last year, but he said he was tied up with other things.

“Even right back in 2019 when there was work available to deal with sexual assault allegations, he pretended he didn’t hear about it. I mean, I’m all for a bit of leniency in these sorts of things, but he’s clearly taking the piss,” the anonymous caller said.

The caller identified as a taxpayer and employer of Mr Morrison.

Mr Morrison now faces having his $10,000-a-week government payment suspended.

Peta Credlin levels bombshell ‘gay orgies’ claim at former Liberal staff members

Peta Credlin has levelled bombshell claims against former Liberal staff members, who she says hosted “gay orgies” at Parliament House.

Tony Abbott’s former chief of staff made the claims during her program on Sky News on Wednesday night.

She also revealed she knows who the staffers who performed sex acts on MPs’ desks are, reports of which were brought to light earlier this week.

“The other three that Peter van Onselen broke in his story this week, I know who you are. I see you,” she said.

“The former minister who is alleged to have male prostitutes delivered to Parliament House … the former minister? I see you too.”

She said that she had previously sacked one of the men involved in the videos.

In another instance, not involving those in the videos, there was evidence of a Liberal staff member involved in “orgies”.

“When the MP cleaned out the staffer’s desk and the computer, that MP uncovered evidence that for many months that staffer had regularly met with other men, in the middle of the day, when the MP was in question time, for orgies in political offices,” Credlin said.

“Labor staffers, not just this Coalition man, and a number of others too.”

    serendipitous

I think the press also need a good pineappling

Sex, Lies and Question Time by Kate Ellis

“I had only been a politician for a few weeks when I was approached in a Canberra bar and told, ‘The only thing anyone really wants to know about you, Kate, is how many blokes you had to fuck to get into this parliament.’”

Ellis writes about the weaponising of sexual gossip within the halls of parliament “specifically designed to destabilise politicians”. It’s not, she says, exclusively aimed at women, but when the sexual gossip involves men, it’s often about same-sex encounters.

“Perhaps this demonstrates that sexism has a friend in homophobia in the parliament, and that sexual rumours are only really damaging to men if they involve other men.”

For Ellis, it started soon after her arrival in parliament: “… a rumour started that Labor Member for Watson Tony Burke and I were sleeping together. It was a rumour that would become widespread and persist on and off for most of the next decade. Years later when my husband told one of his mates that we were dating his mate responded, ‘Is she still having sex with Tony Burke though?

ABC checking on presenter's wellbeing after expletives shouted during Adelaide news bulletin
Radio presenter shouted multiple expletives and appeared to be ad-libbing bulletin before being taken off air.

An ABC radio presenter shouted an expletive twice during a late-night news broadcast in Adelaide before being abruptly taken off the air.

The national broadcaster has said it is investigating the incident and making sure the staff member is OK.

The presenter of Saturday’s 10pm bulletin appeared not to be following a script and struggled through an introduction to the first story about a Covid-19 outbreak in Queensland.

“There’s been more problems with Brisbane, after a more Covid restrictions in the city. Here’s the report,” he said.

The audio for the story was then played but after about 10 seconds the presenter could be heard shouting “fuck off”.

After the story finished, there was a period of silence, before the presenter again appeared to ad-lib while introducing the second report.

“There’s been problems with the wine situation with China maintaining restrictions of the Australian. Here’s the report.”

The presenter again loudly shouted “fuck off” as the story, which was not about Chinese tariffs on Australian wine but rather international Covid-19 infection rates, was broadcast.

The bulletin was cut shortly after and replaced with another which is believed to have been broadcast from Sydney.

An ABC spokesperson said: “We’re looking into what happened and also making sure that our staff member is OK.”

In his profile on the ABC website, the presenter is described as an experienced broadcaster who has worked for multiple media outlets over the past 35 years.

Certainly rather unusual. My inference is that the ABC are not going to report anything about it since it is about them, but 7 and the guardian will have a field day!

    Adelaide, again-

FiveAA radio host Jeremy Cordeaux sacked over 'silly little girl who got drunk' comments about Brittany Higgins

One of Adelaide's longest-serving and most controversial radio hosts has been sacked over comments he made about alleged rape victim Brittany Higgins.
    Key points:

    • Jeremy Cordeaux has been on Adelaide radio since 1976
    • He called alleged rape victim Brittany Higgins "a silly little girl"
    • His employment has been terminated

FiveAA breakfast host David Penberthy announced that Jeremy Cordeaux's employment had been "terminated" after Cordeaux called Ms Higgins "a silly little girl who got drunk" on his Saturday morning program.
Ms Higgins alleges she was raped inside federal senior minister Linda Reynolds's office in parliament in 2019.
Cordeaux, 75, said Prime Minister Scott Morrison should have repudiated Ms Higgins's story publicly.
“I just ask myself why the Prime Minister doesn't call it out for what it is — a silly little girl who got drunk,” Cordeaux said.
“If this girl has been raped, why hasn't the guy who raped her been arrested?
    "Apparently everyone knows his name."

She is a silly little girl that got drunk actually, but you're not allowed to say that in these PC times.
