^Do they still make Faces of Death videos? Maybe he wanted to be a star?

How fast Croc's can move was spoken about in a fairly recent thread and this is proof of that, absolutely no chance of getting away once a big Salty comes at you. You'd need to be completely insane to get within a few meters of the waters edge in Croc country, let alone go wading out into it. Fuck knows what he was thinking.

^ Queenslanders have told me Crocs are common along shorelines of popular beaches and they are migrating even more south along the New South Wales coastline.

^Not sure they're in NSW and the furtherest South I've ever heard of them was Maryborough, but that's without checking. The rule of thumb use to be if there's Barramundi there's Crocs, and I saw on the news that someone caught a 1+ meter Barra in a Gold Coast waterway only about a week ago!

The waters that far South are (were?) too cold for Barra and Crocs but as they breed in more Southern waters I guess they adapt, in 100 years there'll probably be Crocs in the Yarra.

Theories surface as to why man mauled by croc ignored warning signs

A man who was mauled by a crocodile before it ate his dog has revealed the bizarre reason he ignored warning signs and ventured into the croc-infested waters.

Alister MacPhee had been travelling through Far North Queensland and took his dog Molly down to the Bloomfield boat ramp - 60km south of Cooktown - for a swim on Wednesday
Footage captured from the incident shows appears Mr MacPhee stripping down to his budgie smugglers and approaching the water with his dog by his side.
Both were attacked by a 4.2m saltwater crocodile after they waded into the waters.
He has now revealed why he ignored warning signs and risked his life — he was attempting to catch a water python.

Donning a pair of budgie smugglers, Mr MacPhee walked right into the path of the submerged saltie, which bit the traveller on the leg before switching targets to his dog.
Footage captured from the incident shows the moment he made it back to the boat ramp before being flown by rescue helicopter to Cairns Hospital.
While Mr MacPhee has not spoken publicly about the incident, comments on Facebook posts made in the weeks leading up to the incident have surfaced potential reasons for the dangerous expedition.
“It’s hard to go full bush hear (sic) everything is native land,” he wrote in the comments to a friend.
“I want to catch a big water python but the croc’s ya see.”

Mr MacPhee said he "want(s) to catch a big water python" in a Facebook thread. Picture: Facebook

Footage of the incident captures the moment the croc lunged at Mr MacPhee before he stumbled back to the boat ramp clutching his leg.
Wildlife officers from the Department of Environment and Science told the Cairns Post that the saltie was found and shot on Thursday, and Molly’s remains were sadly found in its stomach.
The Wujal Wujal Aboriginal Shire Council had posted warnings of a croc sighting to social media on January 9.
“Be careful near the boat ramp and surrounds,” it read.
    “There is a crocodile there!”

In a statement released by Cairns Hospital, Mr MacPhee thanked those who helped care for him while he was still “recovering from (his) injuries”.
“I want to thank emergency services and staff at Cairns Hospital for looking after me,” he said.
“Especially Magic Molly (my dog) who was always by my side.
“I have, unfortunately, learned the hard way.
“Everyone needs to be croc-wise in croc territory.”

So - and feel free to correct me if I've missed evidence to the contrary - this thread exists solely to confirm the theory that the average Australian is thick as fuck?

You're as thick as the other fucking brittle who declared to all and sundry that because 1 (yes one) amateur Rugby Union player and occasional bobsleder who nobody had ever heard of came out as being gay, that it seems all Australian Male athletes are gay. Equally retarded, but to be expected I guess...

Have you ever been into Croc country anywhere in Northern Australia? Ever seen the warning signs of their presence and cautions not to enter the water? It never ceases to amaze me how lots more people aren't taken by Crocs considering they're protected species, have no predators beside themselves, are in ever expanding areas in increasing numbers, are a highly efficient ambush predator, yet they "only" manage to typically kill 1 or 2 people per year. That's not because the general public typically throw caution to the wind in their habitats like this fuckwit did which he walked away from against all odds, unlike his Dog.

^Saw today that there's areas in Alice where Australia Post refuse to deliver mail to now which is something I never thought would happen anywhere in Australia. The bleeding hearts are asking why they don't just use their indigenous postmen to do the deliveries in that area, exposing themselves as being completely clueless in the process.

Anyway, how's this Reg Dingle wannabe who's pulled his bus up on the Gold Coast to help a snake off the road? Can only assume he's experienced around them and knew it was non venomous (assuming it was), if he was just hoping it was harmless we might be looking at a future Darwin award recipient. Video in the link.

Nearly 15,000 sign petition to ban Donald Trump Jr. from going to Australia

A petition seeking to ban Donald Trump Jr. from visiting the country of Australia has garnered nearly 15,000 signatures as of Monday afternoon.

The Change.org petition, started by Kris Eriksen, aims to deny the former president’s eldest son a travel visa for his upcoming trip, citing concerns about Trump Jr.’s fiery rhetoric and polarizing reputation.

“Donald Trump Jr is an illegal drug-taking bigoted person who should not be allowed to enter Australia for the purpose of earning himself and possibly his father any ‘Campaign Contributions,’” the petition’s description on change.org read. “Ban him from this country.”

    Space junk in WA

    18 July 2023
A strange, cylindrical object which closed a beach in West Australia to visitors may have an extraordinary origin.

Australian Defence Force cordoned off an area of Green Head beach in around three hours north of Perth after the metal capsule washed ashore, covered in barnacles and sea debris.

The two-metre tall space junk is made of greenish copper metal, and covered in barnacles, meaning it could have been at sea for some time. Community members who spotted the object took photos of the space oddity with their children playing around it.

Users of an internet forum specialising in identifying space junk reddit/space were quick to speculate. Among the 20 million space enthusiasts, members claimed to have narrowed it down to a fuel tank from an Indian LVM3-M4.

This is not the first time Perth has been littered with space junk. In 1979 the state was showered with debris from the SkyLab space station, which fell to earth around 500km east of Perth.

Esperance Shire in south WA fined the US space agency Nasa for littering - issuing the science body with a $430 penalty.
