This is a truly sad story but reflective of life in a few of the Aboriginal settlements in Australia.

Police investigating man’s death during massive riot in outback NT indigenous community
A young man has died in a major riot in an outback indigenous community, with the unrest linked to the death of a local family last week.
A young man has died in a major riot in an outback indigenous community in the Northern Territory, with the unrest believed to have been sparked by the death of a local family last week.
At about 11.30am on Monday, police received reports of a disturbance in Ali Curung, a small township about 150 kilometres southeast of Tennant Creek.
When officers arrived, they were met with scenes of burning cars and ransacked buildings after a reported 100 people ran riot through the community.
The body of a 25-year-old man was also located, with police believing his death was suspicious.
But with a small population of 500, there has been animosity for the past few years between the community’s warring east and west clans.
A number of shocking incidents in recent times, including the alleged rape of a four-year-old child in March, have only inflamed tensions.
“It’s been a community with its challenges over the years,” Superintendent Nobbs said.
A number of operational and investigative resources from Tennant Creek, Darwin and Alice Springs have been deployed to the township in a bid to restore order, he said.
During the riot, a number of vehicles were set alight and there was “significant property damage” as well as a number of injuries.

Outback NT town rallies to feed stray dogs left in wake of riot
Hundreds of bags of dog food have been delivered to an outback town to feed starving animals that were left behind after a violent riot erupted last year and caused many residents to flee the area.
Key points:
- Starving animals left behind in Ali Curung have begun to pose a threat to residents
- Barkly Regional Council has teamed with animal welfare groups to deliver food to 37 strays
- The council is working with the community to find ways to keep feeding the abandoned dogs
Last November a man was killed during fighting involving up to 100 people armed with knives, pipes, machetes and spears in the town of Ali Curung, almost 400 kilometres north of Alice Springs.
Fearing for their safety, many people have since left the community.
While some are staying with friends and family in Alice Springs and Tennant Creek, the majority are believed to be sleeping rough, meaning they could not take their pets with them.
Truck driver showcases unique views of Nullarbor Plain on famous Australian road trip
A truck driver with a passion for drone photography is becoming a social media star, showcasing some of Australia's most remote and unique landscapes from the sky above the Nullarbor Plain
Ben Stamatovich and his co-driver, wife Jacinta Brennan, make the 64-hour, 5,700-kilometre round trip from Adelaide to Perth every week.
^ Our Terry is there now
"I like the bird's-eye view and showing something that can't be seen by average people."

Since creating his Facebook page, The Drone Way, in October 2017, Mr Stamatovich has attracted more than 25,000 followers.
It was quite the U-turn for the 45-year-old who lived on the streets as a teenager and admits he had virtually no interest in photography.
The famous 90-mile straight on the Eyre Highway is Australia's longest straight road.
Great Australian Bight a favourite for drone pilot
The Nullarbor Plain is dotted with outback roadhouses but is a largely untouched, unpopulated and almost treeless part of southern Australia.
Tourists passing through can see the world's longest line of sea cliffs, where whale watching thrives for five months of the year from the Great Australian Bight.
"Personally, my favourite spot is on the Great Australian Bight," Mr Stamatovich said.
"I love turning off the trucks when we've got empty trailers and there's complete silence, and you just hear the boom noise of the waves hitting the cliffs.

Golden hour, the period of daytime shortly after sunrise or before sunset, is Mr Stamatovich's favourite time of day.
The small South Australian town of Penong created a museum on the edge of the Nullarbor Plain by rescuing and restoring broken-down windmills.
He plans trips meticulously and will wait until light conditions are perfect.
At Penong, a small wheatbelt town and popular rest stop on the Eyre Highway in South Australia, there is a collection of about 20 donated and restored windmills.

^ Now there's a hardcore truck driving life. I would love that, hardly any other traffic to deal with.
Looks like he has a two stack Mack with a shack on the back...wonder if he owns the truck or is a company driver. Sorry, don't do FB so didn't click on the link.
Beautiful isolation...what's the Oz immi requirements? Are there any single drivers there? In other words, does that road train life require a co-driver? My wife doesn't drive at all. Not even a car. Never been in a team driver situation in 35 + years. I have pulled double trailers before...in the past. Double 28 footers.Originally Posted by David48atTD

Pfffttttttttt ... Double 28 footers ... lightweight
what's the Oz immi requirements? ... Australia Skilled Occupation List - Australian Visa Bureau
The USA is about the same size as Australia. The US is about 10% bigger.
But with only 1/10 of the USA population ... it's a wide brown land.
Skkin, most trucks running east-west or anywhere else are single drivers, but some express run two up because of time limits.
Now seeing some foreign drivers, mostly Indian, don't know if they are migrants or on a work visa but they seem to be on the east coast
running Melbourne-Sydney Brisbane with single trailers or B-doubles.
East- West and all inland run road trains, 2-3-4 trailers, ask at OZ embassy or Consulates for visa requirements.
I know right.
In the video..."205 ton centipede" Wow! And that Mammoet rig...that's insane. What I've been driving the last 27 years is 40 tons max for comparison.
Thanks guys...but...I was really just doing a bit of daydreaming there. In all honesty, I'm probably finished.
I'm 100% sure I couldn't pass the mobility part of a return to work DOT physical here in the States...now or in the near future. Can't legally drive a CMV on the scheduled pain medication I'm on and it really doesn't even help that much. Had to go out and buy a cane to be able to walk and not doing very good at that. Being told it's severe arthritis in back, hips and knees and it has accelerated dramatically in the last 6 months. First found out about having the arthritis in January 2018, but it wasn't even bothering me then.
Been referred to a pain clinic and my first consultation there is this coming Tuesday. Injection only clinic. Not sure they'll have anything that will make me mobile again...and that's legal to drive a CMV while using.
We'll see.
But if I were able get back at it...that long lonesome hwy in the Oz outback scene really appeals to me.

Racist and offensive balloon banned from the skies in Canberra Balloon Spectacular
The owner of a hot air balloon banned from the Canberra Balloon Spectacular over its "racist and offensive" name and facade says she never intended to upset anybody.
Key points:
- The Black Magic balloon resembles the Golliwog character, which is considered a racist caricature
- Owner says she has never heard a complaint about the balloon from anybody
- Events ACT consulted with Indigenous bodies before decision
The balloon, named Black Magic and also known by the nickname "Golly", depicts a smiling black face resembling the Golliwog character, which is considered by many to be a racist caricature.
The ACT Government has announced the balloon would be excluded from next week's balloon spectacular, citing concerns it could offend sections of the community.
Owner Kay Turnbull said her balloon had flown at the event for decades without issue.
"I was devastated. Absolutely devastated," she said.
"It's never been our intention to offend anybody, ever.
And in fact in 20 years of flying this design of balloon we have never had a single complaint from anyone.Events ACT director Jo Verden said it wasn't until the balloon's nickname "Golly" was raised that staff began to question the balloon's inclusion.
"I love my balloon and nobody's ever had a problem with it. It's fun!"
"It came through as the name of the balloon being 'Black Magic', also commonly referred to as 'Golly'," Ms Verden said.
If it's black nowadays, it's racist. See the background on the text reply box? F'CKN RAYCISS!
Car and motorcycle tires? RACISS!
Outer space -- you guessed it. RAYCISS.
Even mentioning the color black -- or especially negro (black) is raciss.
'Groids are so sensitive these days (they're really just starving for attention).
Got to agree with TP there, people are getting far too fucking sensitive.
It does appear a change in community expectations is the cause because ...
Australia doesn't have a 'Gollywog' past ... that said recently, at a country show the Gollywog knitted Doll compOwner Kay Turnbull said her balloon had flown at the event for decades without issue.
was pulled because of perceived sensitivities.
In Australia, if you wanted to be culturally insensitive, you make a joke like this ...
Why are Abos called Boongs?
Because it's the sound they make as you open the doors on the Landcrusier (Forerunner) and they go and they
go 'Boong' as you wack them ... or something like that.
Terry ... can you tell that properly?
If that has a really luxurious condo-esque interior and was self-running on renewable energy of some sort (maybe a small cold fusion reactor), also having a missile defence system and Gatling guns then I'd defo want one and would be willing to move to Australia to drive it around the Northern Territories (perhaps even a little beyond) for a decade or two with my new girlfriends:
Cycling should be banned!!!
^Get a hot shower installed and you'll be beating them away.
No. But beauty and the eye of the beholder, and all that.
Blimey, you have high standards indeed if those two lovelies don't meet them.
