Most poms don't realize how isolated things can be in Aus.
People coming out there wouldn't normally be the nicking stuff types.
Poms would give up and go home for lunch before getting halfway for fear of getting sunburned or eaten by crocodiles or losing their babies to dingos.

Great thread, west australia is beautiful except when its hot.I was in the wheatbelt last winter and the cold nights and warm days were magnificent.The sky is the purest blue and at night there are millions of stars.
And the fishing is spectacular.

Congrats Terry, nice little setup you got going now. I agree tent camping is ok but to be able to sleep in a decent bed and walk around without crawling out of a tent is way better. That bike sure looks a lot like the old Honda Trail 90, I used to have one of those, loaded bikes in the pickup truck, hooked the camper on and away we'd go. Great times and good memories. Good on ya mate!

Great photos Terry. And an interesting rig you have.
I'm going to be camping regularly with the missus in the near future, but I'm seriously considering getting a van and converting it into a campervan myself. I'd get a roll-out awning for starters. A van is a bit easier to set up on site. And I like the freedom of being able to move the thing according to where the shade is, or if yobbos come along. We had a bad sleep one night because of that, and because we were in a tent we couldn't just move at midnight. Maybe I'll just start with a station wagon. My mate is selling his very well maintained Mitsubishi Magna wagon soon.
Looking forward to seeing your Autumn camping pics.

My van sets up in two minutes but that side tarp takes a fair bit of time and pissing around.

I would do the same Terry, trailer / campers are the nuts, I used to cart a caravan around. too heavy and the modern trailer units have it all.

True but the trailer can be left set up for a few days while you explore the area by car.

Or you could get one of Terry's postie bikes and hang it on the back of your camper for local wheels.

Great area for camping round Nannup. Me and mates used to go the down river side of Nannup, off Mowen rd. Used to get our bag limit of marron during the day, and a belly full of piss in the evening.
Good to hear you clear the ground to have a fire.
Was talking with the wife about getting a camper similar to let the kids experience the bush.

My first camp was on the Nannup Balingup road. Bloody cracking piece of scenery.

Now we go inside and you can see how the sink, stove and cupboards fold down for storage and towing. The fridge is on the left hand side, Its is a little blinder cranking away on gas. Also 12 volt and 240.

Those multi voltage - gas fridges cost a packet. You paid how much for the lot??

I have got to say that tents are the best

all I see in camper vans are ageing couples on their pensions, sitting in plastic chairs at plastic tables eating their standard food - having fun true, but a tent is the thing

nicer feel to them, more flexible, more fun

some camp sites are tent only, which is good, much nicer people in tents

sounds bad, but for some reason it is true
