Here is the spanking work bench. Sits level with the roof of my car and far away from bities and other nasty things one can find in the Australian bush. The canvas zips out to open up the camper to expose the fly wire giving my a very nice view outside when inside.

I use a large cook pot to boil water in so I can wash my old slug and was dishes and shit in.

The last time I went around Aust about 1998 was in a Mk 2 Ford zephyr.
Cracking trip but only had a sleeping bag and campfire. Prior to digital being in regular use, so only prints.
Anyway accommodation was not as near luxurious as this.

I have now fitted a bike carrier and new LED lights to the rear of this van, friggin worked out brilliant as I can throw my 80 kg posty bike on the back and boogie on down the road. When not taking my Bike I throw a large fok off tool box on the back and throw all my kit in it. Works a treat and totally flexible. In later pics you will see my awesome peace of work. Not my work actually but my very talented fabricator welder mate. I done the lights though.

Well Peter, Ive only ever camped using a box trailer to carry all my shit in and a tent to sleep in but considering I'm an all weather camper I decided to up the anti after all these years.

Last year I was at Coral Bay up North and got rained out for days, foked up when in a tent.

Spat the dummy and decided to get myself a camper. Best thing I ever did.

I don't do Caravan parks, stick to free camping and National parks so I'm only paying for fuel or a $7 a day charge in the Parks.

I'm only a few hours away from cranking camping territory so I can hook up and just disappear for a few days on my days off.

Bloody good it is.

Solitude is a magnificent experience, being in a place where you cannot see or hear any other human.

Ok, on with the show. I have one of these Postie bikes which can only be purchased at auction after Australia Post have finished with them.

They keep them for 3 years and flog them off between 24-28000 Klm. It weigh's in at 80KG and sits perfectly on the back of my camper. Brilliant for banging down bush tracks and such.

I remember in about '78 hitching from Sydney to Brisbane getting a ride from a guy in a ute who abslutely wouldn't let me unhook the canopy and throw my pack in the back, had to put it in the front between us which suited me fine when he started going on about how gay he was.
I sometimes wonder if it was him and there was a body in the back of the ute.

Ok, this was my first night in the bush with my camper. The only things I require when I camp is to see no people, be close to a river and have a fire going at night hence I don't camp in summer. Seasons over now until mid March as its a total fire ban. Also camping in Summer is shit as its too hot, too many flies and bities. Autumn, winter and spring are fantastic in the bush. So you can see I've got my fire ready, I've hooked up my outside table, esky is full of home brew, LED night light is connected to the spare battery, Engel fridge is purring away inside my car connected to a separate 120amp/hour battery independent from the car battery and other assorted goodies scattered around. I've connected the bed Fly over the main bed for sun protection but have not erected a cover from the side of the van as I was moving the next day. This camp was a ripper, on the river, isolated down a dirt road and only 3 hours away from Perth. First time there. I also only camp Mid week as all the plebs come out on the weekends.

Here is a good pic showing the bike rack fitted to my van and the new LED lights I fitted. Also can be used as another table top. I bought the tool box from Bunnings and it works a treat.Have it attached with ratchet straps and comes off in two seconds, the table I relocated from inside also works well. All in all everything was functional. I'm outside mostly but bloody nice to be able to sleep comfortable and get out of the rain when required which was the main motivation for me buying the van.

Actually bloody lovely spot and I'll be back there again next year. It was on a back road between Balingup and Nannup in the south west of WA. Perth punters will know this area. Deep in the Forrest. glorious at night time.

You need to get up next to a nice river in Northern NSW for some murray cod or Queensland for some Barra, whadday catch in there?
