Sting: A Winter's Night
In September 2009, Sting invites you to a concert in Durham Cathedral in north-east England. Accompanied by a 35-strong band, old and new winter songs will be heard. | The UNESCO World Heritage-listed cathedral sits atop a towering cliff. With the laying of the foundation stone in 1093, the first ribbed vault in art history was created there. The building was also the location of the movies "Harry Potter", "Elizabeth" and "Avengers". | For Sting, it's an "auditory meditation" on various aspects of winter. Folk songs, madrigals and religious hymns span the season of reflection, silence and inner contemplation. | In November 2021, Sting will release his album "The Bridge", which reflects the feelings of a life influenced by global uncertainties. Sting says in an interview with Radio Bremen: "I always want to surprise people by presenting them with a new single by Sting, and people then say: Oh, I didn't expect that!" Sting continues: "Obviously, all of the characters I write about are in a transitional state between life and death, between illness and health, or between different relationships. Throwback, i'll be dancing to this wildly tomorrow night!
No introductions needed
^Aw classic! I can play that on guitar. Mom stuck me in lessons when I was 13, and I learned all these golden oldies.
Haven't listened to Bob in a while... kind of trippin' listening to this, no pot either.
I am sure you now are happy your Mom ""stuck you with lessons"
Originaly written by Criss C
One of the first song I also learned how to play also,Three easy open chords. G,C, and D7,
Now that I am retired and have more time to practice , I took up playing again , but much to my disappointment. my aging hands are not cooperating (65 years old). I have trigger finger on my left hand pinky and it often locks up on me . which makes it hard with barre chords. But I can still scratch a flew tunes .
I looked into having my left hand operated (minor operation), but my finger will be out of operation for three months , and right now I have so many things to do.As soon as I have some time I gill do it.
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.
^Yes I am glad she did, as she forced me out of my shell and to play in front of family and friends. I was very shy to play and sing as a teen..
Sorry to hear about your hands and fingers acting up. I hope you can get the operation done at some point. I haven't play guitar in a long time..probably close to ten years.. should get back to it.
Used to listen to this a long time ago.. hehe..
Nineties pop.
If you're a fan of sting then out the film Quadraphenia and step into my world...
Aerosmith's Steven Tyler surprises a busker who was singing in the street.
"The night time clip was filmed by an eagle-eyed passer-by in Russia, who spotted Steven Tyler in the crowd and captured the amazing moment of the live performance on video."
Happier days.
