Posted the original of this song a couple of days ago by Henry Thomas recorded in 1928 and believe it or not playing both guitar and panpipes. I like this version because of the guitar picking and rough singing by this gent who appears to be an enthusiastic and talented amateur. (I really enjoy blues songs where there is a clear path back to the origins in the east central USA.)

Ahhh! Kevin Ayers.
My favorite track of his. Play it regularly
Often go around the house singing it

Meandering through google the other evening I ended up reading about Jake Thackray again.
His television appearances were a part of my childhood

Back to Kevin Ayers. This was my introduction to him, listening to John Peel in bed on my little transistor radio. TOTP it wasn't

Discovered him way too late in life. Amazing improvisation when he looses his pick for 10-15 seconds.
