^^ But Hairy, you're an old punk, you really should appreciate Nick Cave. Try The Boatman's Call or Murder Ballads - two classic CDs, couldn't do without 'em.

christ, i didn't know he was an aussie *shock* as for him being a punk, well he wasn't part of the recognised english punk movement that existed between 75 & 78. as far as i recall he got popular in the early eighties in the goth era that swept london. i must admit to having liasons with a couple of goth girls, but despised the whole goth thing. i never met a goth who i'd ever want to have on my side in a fight, pussies the lot of em'

Modest Mouse - Doin' the CockRoach

    I was in heaven
    I was in hell
    Believe in neither
    But fear them as well

This really is very good if you haven't heard it - You probably wouldn't choose it for a slow dance with the kitchen chair of your dreams, but if you wanted to freak fellow train passengers out with an uncontrolled crazy dance then it's just the job.

Football commentary on Radio 5. Seems a bit strange being entertained listening to sport. Now that I am really thinking about it I have got myself all worked up at how weird it is. Sometimes it doesn't do to think too much.

I am a Bird Now - Antony and the Johnsons.

This album won the Mercury Music awards-type thingie this year or last year. It really is quite different from anything I've heard before - The guy's got an incredible voice - not male, not female.....Kind of how I'd expect a jilted sunflower to sound when it was in the shower and thought nobody was around to hear its sad songs.

^ Any good? The voice isn't like the Scissor Sisters, is it? My sister sent me a copy over, but I don't really like it. She used to like Rush when I was into the Ramones.

Oh yeah, I'm listening to my sister-in-law sweeping up the leaves from my mango tree. She's actually singing, too.

^^It's hard to classify it - The voice is nothing like a camp falsetto - Mournful and sad, yet hoping against hope....Play it with a large glass of red wine in your hand and with all of your bitter memories looking back at you accusingly from the mirror.

I was listening to Bloc Party on the way home - Silent Alarm. I also have an album of remixes of the songs and I prefer the remixes.....I think I'll write and tell Bloc Party - it's only fair that they know how I feel.
