I recently reread 1984 for the first time since it was the assigned text at school 38 years ago and then rewatched the 1984 1984 movie with the Eurythmics soundtrack.

The cast is perfect with the John Hurt as the pallid sickly Winston, Richard Burton bringing weighty screen presence to the imposing O'Brian and Suzanna Hamilton sporting her sex-crime monster-muff
Rab C Nesbitt is the neighbour who gets rumbled and Trigger from Only Fools is the bar tender
It was interesting to note the differences between the book and movie.
Winston's ex-wife is not mentioned in the movie and O'Brian does not discuss the Brotherhood during the meeting in his apartment.
Winston's brain is obviously discombobulated from the rats in room 101 in the epilogue scene in the Oak Tree Cafe, as he moves knight to E5 when his queen is under attack from the black knight on E3

Nine Lives (1957), a Norwegian film with English subtitles, gives a harrowing account of Jan Baalsrud's escape after a failed mission in Norway. I mentioned the book: "Escape Alone", in the book thread. It is quite unbelievable how he managed to survive and how many risked their lives to ensure he did.

Saw that Netflix now had Midway. Both the 1976 classic (Heston, Fonda, Coburn) as well as the more recent 2019 film (Skrein, Wilson and Harrelson). Watched them back to back and both were well worth it.
