Music these days will never eclipse the golden age when music brought people together as it did when Bob Geldof gave us the Live Aid concert in 1985. Was the day music changed history! No doubt had a performance that will forever go down as the greatest in the history of music.

We will never again see anything like it again.

By far my favorite artist. I can listen to him all day, and sometimes I do.

It's not only releasing the glories of our youth as someone said.It was . and is , good music.
It was a music that spoke to a generation. When there were actual music groups, that played actual music instruments.
If the music of today speaks to this generation, I am not sure what it's saying.
There is a reason why songs like white rabbit are classics.
Can you mention a song of now days that would ever become a classic?
Classic as it tridents generational divides.
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.

I sure can't but maybe my daughters and nieces can. Music is all so different now. I grew up with "Day on the Green" concerts. Most of the songs I like have a specific memory attached to them as well as big college parties.

Later came club music and my 1st wife and I went to some really fun clubs but the music was more hip hop and none will be classic.

So I have my Genre music set up for the mood and what I am doing.

Oh dear, Norts - ya old fart.
Might I remind you that the golden era of Western popular type was the 1960s/1970s.
    Nothing has matched it since.
    Shirley.....you recall.

Calls a poster an 'old fart' and tells him he should be recommending music twenty years older?

That tripped out prat never makes sense.

The music revolution of the Eighties was on a par with the sixties imho.

Ever since it's all been manufactured bands.

Little hope for the independent musicians trying to break into the big time coz it's all sewn up at the top.

You would have thought Spotify, youtube etc would have helped more younger aspiring musicians to start a musical revolution.

But I guess the youth just cant be arsed nowadays.

I'd really like to see another youth movement take off but it all appears to be gangsta rap and sports clothing for the masses nowadays.

Watched a great film recently about how Detroit became more famous for Motown than cars.

That was a time when Black people really had to struggle to get their voices heard.

    Berry Gordy etc were revolutionary.

    Its Two Tone!

A faster version of sixties Ska born in the Eighties from the Midlands of England.

I'm sure Cyrille will have some Two Tone stories to share.

Bob Marley is commercialised crap for stoners.

There's so much more better quality Reggae and rarer more obscure Rocksteady out there.

One could even argue that the big band music era came to an end after the war with the Teddy Boy Rock n Roll era.

So many tunes remixed and rehashed nowadays.
Not sure if it's a good thing in some cases.
But in this case I think it works

    Genre - 90's Dance
