    Spotify Stats

I love a stat and at the time every year Spotify sums up your year. What have you been listening to?

Spotify is my main media app but do use a couple of others for stuff I can't find on there.

Probably only interesting to me that Rizzle Kicks is so high as I wouldn't recognize him in the street.

Edit: click the little pics to make them big. Can't be arsed to resize them all.

Don't wanna drink pint after pint
I wanna wake up without feeling sick
    But I can't cuz I'm a drug-abusing alcoholic

Mine is a bit weird some real surprises in it.

Increasingly annoyed with Spotify as it seems to play the same 50 or so songs on high rotation from a playlist of over 400. Google tells me it’s a known issue but nobody seems to know how to fix it.

Only use it when exercising. So that's System of a Down, Slipknot, Machine Head. Nirvana on a slow Monday morning.

I go absolutely fooking ballistic when I'm midstride, pushing out a fast lap and it happens to change from Machine Head to, say, Green Offspring Day or some shite.

That's pretty cool, actually interested to see mine now, I usually do SOAD on bike rides which are typically 1.5-2 hours each 3-4-5 times a week. Shurely there can't be some other fokhead in Thailand listening to them for... whatever number number of weekly hours 1.5-2 x 3-4-5 equals.

2,3 & 4 are classic Garage choons. Thought that would be right up your alley.

I certainly got my money's worth from Spotify this year. 133363 minutes, 3377 tracks & 1363 different artists
I have a fairly extensive digital music collection but this year only used Spotify.

    Top 5 artists

    1 Kevin Ayers
    2. Esbjorn Svensson Trio
    3. Can
    4. Hal Man Half Bicuit
    5 Tom Verlaine

    Top Song

National Shite Day - Half Man Half Biscuit - it was that kind of year.

Now where I find it a bit strange is the genres I supposedly listen to.
I have never been one to worry about genres. I listen to what I like. (79 genres according to Spotify)

Spotify say my top genre is 'country rock' which I found a little strange until I looked at the artists on the 'country rock' mix they sent me along with the stats.
    They included
    Dylan
    Little Feat
    Dr. Feelgood
    Blind Faith
    Spirit
    CSNY
    Keef Hartley
    Rolling Stones
    Alejandro Escovedo

    All good picks

Little feet I always listen to on the London Tube by habit, takes me to a happy place in the deep South.

Time Loves a hero favourite album

Been re-listening to CSNY and this week Fleetwood Mac for obvious reasons

Aren't we lucky to have so much at our finger tips

I do miss the 12 inch LP sleeve art .I posted many on a now vanished thread

As our contributions seem to have zero value to the owner seems little point in posting much., I did 123 pages on SF all lost over 1000 posters all unsearchable

I used to spend too many hours going through the record racks in my youth. I read a lot more on album covers than i did in text books.

I don't think I ever read a CD cover when they were a thing.

Now I sift through a multitude of music blogs seeking odd musical gems and new music (to me) from the last 50+ years.

Not bad, considering I only ever listen to it when exercising.

Has Spotify really wrapped up the mystery of musical taste?

As the streaming giant parcels up the data on our personal listening habits, two authors reflect on how taste is formed – and why our music choices are never entirely our own

Move over Mariah Carey: these days the arrival of Christmas is marked by the arrival of Spotify Wrapped. Since 2016, the streaming giant has generated end-of-year listening statistics that claim to reveal users’ most intimate music secrets.

Endless discourse about most-played songs, guilty pleasures and expected genres ensues. It’s a savvy marketing scheme for a platform that otherwise makes headlines for paying musicians poorly, although it seems few of us can resist the opportunity to show off our exemplary choices. But what can this data really tell us about our music tastes? ........................

How do you find your stats in Spotify
Though it will not be indicative of what I listen , I only use spotify for songs I can't find on Amazon music.
Why I had not set spotify as my default player I don't know, so don't ask
So I went int Alexa and changed the default player to Spotify
Too early to try it yet . Will try it later when wife is up (7am here)
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.
