If you want a decent primer on Australian film, renowned pom/aussie critic David Stratton is doing a three part series on ABC- of which two have been aired, third one coming up. The first two are available on ABC iview now, third to be released shortly I assume. Resourceful people can usually find ways to download ABC stuff free, wherever you are.
I like Australian film myself (not to say there there haven't been more than a few stinkers of course). It's that bit 'different', refreshing. Given the success of many aussie film makers & actors internationally, plus the number of 'Hollywood' movies now being made in Oz, I would say it is worth a watch for anyone interested in film:-

Not sure if this will work where you are, but no harm trying-
David Stratton's Stories Of Australian Cinema : ABC iview
Patience then. It will be available to Torrent after a while- but i reckon it's a bit naff not letting kiwis in on our ABC stuff.
And Lord of the Rings trilogy was made in NZ too.
Yea, makes little sense . . . can you get:

I can get the website, but not download. It's Jacindas fault.
Bloody Jacinda!!!!
let me try my VPN placing me in Sydney.
Bugger, the only thing that works is the Aboriginal warning and than I get this.
The commercial stations, netflix, disney plus, Kayo sports etc all let me use a VPN, but the national broadcaster has invested money into VPN detection and prevention!

The Proposition.made in 2005 and set in outback QLD during colonial times.
Shot around Winton, great movie, written by the great Nick Cave and starring Ray Winstone and Guy Pearce.
The head shot was a beaut too.
Apparently including the immortal line "My giraffe was struck by lightning".
Fair Game 1986
Finally got round to watching this Aussie Grind-House exploitation flick with a lush blondie being terrorised by a gang of unsavoury types.
An intriguing antipodean example of the lurid 70s style genre.
