On a lighter note, a sterling performance by Walter Huston as Howard, upon discovery of the gold.

The opening scene to Gladiator was pretty awesome when it first came out.

^Watched that yesterday, too. Strange endings for all those stories. Thought it pretty good.

The other one I watched was Broadway Danny Rose.

Considered undoable, the candlelit gambling scene in Kubrick's greatest film Barry Lyndon was astonishing, this was using 1970s technology to enhance Thackeray's novel

click to play, no spoiler do catch this film if you can , always in my top 10

Beyond the opening chapter....and the Tom Waits one was decent, I was terribly disappointed.

    Can't even finish it, tbh.

A magnificent film that did not get the praise it deserved. And one of Thackeray's finest writings.

Maybe not one of the all time greats, but a funny sketch all the same.

If I remember correctly, and to be slightly pedantic, the opening scene for Saving Private Ryan was weak- but immediately after that....oh my goodness.....
