Another great guitarist Freddie Green with his characteristic comping for famous sound of the Count Basie Orchestra:

One of the few times Freddie Green takes a solo. He doesn't use single note lines but instead adds little chordal fills in between the band. His solo begins at 4:30

And here the famous Freddie Green's G13 in Lil' Darlin'

For many Count Basie fans, " Lil' Darlin' " is the tune most closely associated with Freddie Green because of the guitar's G13 arpeggio that occurs four times in the arrangement.

Ahhhh yes, the great Freddie Green. He played 1, 2, 3, 4, to the bar for decades and helped to keep the Basie band the tightest band in the world !

Heard them many times, at small venues, The Carnation Theater in Disneyland - and large at the Playboy Jazz Festival at the Hollywood Bowl - 18,000 seats. Always swinging HARD.

I do like the The Girl from Ipanema though.

^Yes, it's well known that he had liked to drink (who from the good jazzmen did not?). And yes, his connection with Brazil jazz was his best. I saw him live in Prague in mid 70's, he was wonderful...
