The four-volume "Master of War" series by David Gilman. Fast-paced historical fiction covering the 100 Years War. Action-packed and well written. I'm just starting Volume 3. Also, each book is quite long - which is always a good thing for a good read.

Just finished Bangkok 8. Not as bad as I thought it would be.

Just finished Volume 3/4. Super series.

Have read "Chickenhawk" many times. Probably the best book on the helicopter war in RVN ever written. My best friend and I both enlisted in '67 for the Warrant Officer Flight program. I flunked the physical because of an equilibrium problem resulting from an earlier head injury. So, I went to the Airborne, and he went on to fly choppers without me. He survived a brutal tour, in which he was shot down 13 times. He's the guy who sent me my copy of "Chickenhawk".

If we're going to do Vietnam books, try "The Crouching Beast" by Frank Boccia.

One of the most powerful books I have ever read....and I read a lot of books. I sent copies to my brother (Vietnam 1969) and to two guys I served with. All three bought copies to send to others.

This was "Hamburger Hill". May 1969. The HILL. Eleven times up it.

This was my unit. I walked those trails for months.

I was blessed by the god of timing to have finished my tour in April......less than a month before the assault on The Beast began. Once again, as with several other times during that year, an angel sat on my shoulder.

Flow My Tears, the Policeman Said is a 1974 science fiction novel by Philip K. Dick



Philip can be a slow starter with his books, and chapter one was real slow- some crap about a guy with a girlfriend and mistress or something,
but finally picks up at the end.
Now at the start of two he may be already dead?

Thanks for those. I think they ended the draft when I was in 11th grade, but man I saw some of my friends sweating it out back then. Ever read Tiger the LURP Dog? It's supposed to be a little-known classic.

^I have a copy of "Tiger the LURP Dog" in my hand as I type. The inscription reads, "Dave. Maybe this will help you let loose some of your demons. Bear".
