    Your Teenage Years

The first time I went to Dallas in the early 90s my cousin was listening to the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

We stayed in touch swapping music tips for years.

I heard a couple of them the other day and they bring back good memories.

However, I think I gave her even more in return 30 years ago.

What were you listening to as a 14/15 year old?

Graham Nash (ex Hollies) had a connection with Joni Mitchell too, which I only discovered recently.

Interesting. I lived through techno but not really impressed. I think that bands and performers used to lead musicianship, but labels/producers pushed people into stuff that sold?

    Im a musical dinosaur.
Anyone who can trace his history back to Brian Wilson, the Drifters and Jim Reeves qualifies.

    That's not techno, Switch.

That's New Order Blue Monday 88.

A seminal moment for the acid house era and Madchester.

I’m aware of New Order and Blue Monday. Maybe it’s a generational thing?

    Of course it is.

    Labelling New Order techno.

No real idea of Blue Monday.

An ignorance of the Acid House / Madchester scene.

We're really pushing the boundaries of acceptance though, chap.

In 1975 I joined the army. In 1978 I lived and worked in Germany. Different generations, and different musical influences. You call it Acid House, I call it techno. Music stopped being music when it moved to electronics, money and profit.

Supertramp wasn't big here until 79-80

    I wasn't 14-15 anymore then.

Back then it was a lot of Sweet, Slade, Suzi, Beatles or whatever the girls prefered.

And a lot of danish, swedish stuff.

    Heard of ABBA ?

    Bachman, Turner Overdrive

No Lou Reed for me; still can't stand that shit
