    Mods and Rockers Thread

Any Mods and rockers out there care to show the others there way of life?

    I'll start....

Modernism - A way of life

The music, fashions, scooter in that order.

If you've not seen this movie then it's a good place to start your journey into the life of a Mod even if it's only the tip of the ice-berg. Enjoy

    Trailer

About 10 years ago on Samui in Lamai beach there is/was? a bar named the Quadraphenia Bar with an old mod who had dedicated his whole bar to the movie.
    Music playing from the sixties.
Pictures all over and a scooter hire shop next door.
Lot of scoot boy's and Mods coming over on holiday.
Down the road was the Two Tone bar with a suedehead and his mini suede head eurasian son playing ska.

Be good to hear from any rockers out there or MC groups who are similarly engrossed in their culture.
Or are the rockers a culture? Or just bikers?

I can see this thread being as one sided as the battle of Brighton when the Mods kicked the Rockers rears out of town.
Talking of threads here's some cool Mod threads(clothes) The hipsters and cool cats would save their pennies to be the smartest and coolest in town wearing only the finest bespoke suits.

There is a bar in Pattaya on soi Bukhao very near the corner of R-Con residence and they have a themed Mod bar with music and photos all of that era, scooters.
Can't remember the name but in the evening the girls wore purple air hostess clobber - maybe I remember the girls but not the bar name.

I don't really 'get' people who image themselves on the music they like - goths, long-haired heavy metal dudes, mods etc.

I like everything from Beethoven to dubstep-grime, so if I were to dress like that I'd look like a right mish-mashed plonker.

The majority of Mods on the scene view the above with their double breasted suits as "comedy Mods".

Most prefer the tailored 3 button Italian style.

I believe there are regular Northern Soul nights in Pattaya as well!

Funny watching Thai's trying to dance to Northern Soul!

The very popular Northern Soul Party took place for the 7th time here in Pattaya, this time with a brilliant new location, at the White Horse Pub and Restaurant in the Eastern Grand Palace Hotel on Soi Khao Talo in East Pattaya. The Northern Soul night, organized by Eva Johnson and Earl Brown, has proved to be a huge success each and every time in Pattaya.

    It wasn't just the sixties!

Modernism has carried on throughout musical history albiet not as mainstream as the 1960's.

There have been surges in popularity in the 1980's with the revival bands such as the Jam and all the two tone groups.

Then again with the 90's Brit pop phase and more recently with every man and his dog getting into it in the Media.

The real Mods shun publicity and laugh at the glory hunters, the true Mods keep cool and still attend 60's RnB, Jazz, soul and ska events all around the globe.
They are a very select group these days with only a few thousand hardcore members world wide.TBC

There's a few younger second and third generation mods on here although granted maybe not old but most probally b'stards.

Lambretta is far cooler than the Vespa!
The Vespa is reliable and the lambretta prone to breaking down and knackering up one's knees pushing it home(not for the old guys).

Bikie, but we were rockers, bikes and old yank cars were the go.
Our foes were the sharpies, today they'd be skinheads.
Mixed up time I guess in OZ,

Rockers V Sharpies down under!First time i've heard about the name "Sharpies".

We had two types of skinheads, the first type was the nazi skins who where always up for a fight with anyone wearing Doc Martin boots, bomber jackets.

The second type was the suede heads, the total opposite to the above quite similar to the Mods. Slightly shorter hair and more ticket pockets on their suits jackets with half mat trousers and loafers or oxford brogues on feet.
