Wot no rockers?
I would occasionally go to the Twisted Wheel when it was in Aytoun Street, for the Saturday all nighters. As it closed on a Sunday morning, 'The Blue Note' would open up, just a few streets away towards Piccadilly.
Another regular haunt of mine from the '60's was Browns on Stockport Road in Levenshulme.
This is a good site for some Manchester nostalgia: http://www.manchesterbeat.com/venues.php
Being a Californian who grew up there in the '60s, I can swear with 90% certainty (the 10% doubt is ascribed to the belief that I didn't grow up in California during the '60s at all) that Mods and Rockers were not an American thing. We had and still have punks, hippies, red necks, goths, metal heads, nerds, jocks, queens, gang bangers, etc. etc. but we didn't seem to connect with that Euro (or was it strictly UK?) trendiness described as the topic of this thread.
ha ha, Fondles ^ ^ that's why so many soap dodgers got battered in that era, guess you may be one of them.
The wind shield on the scooter is ideal for protecting ones dangly bit's from the element looking cool and smart not creasing the tailored trousers.
The motorbike on the other hand ....jammed up against the hot, vibrating engine in leather.....definately for pussies.
yes the mighty scooter could hit 40km/h downhill, maybe 45km/h
with a descent breeze helping you along.
it aint for the fainthearted for sure.
Nuff said, ball bag......

ball bag?
a typical pommie git response.
once those little wheels picked up a bit of speed going downhill, the vespa really motors along.
that little bike hit at least 50 km/h.
looks like a bike for the ladies or perhaps for the gay members of our community.
vrrrrooommm vrrrrrooommm vrrrroommm.
You never see a fella on a Vespa wearing studded leather.
