    Jomtien, The Seaside resort

Well living here in Jomtien I never really thought about taking pictures of it, I mean how many pictures do you take of your local area? not many I bet, but an admin on another forum mentioned that he had come to Jomtien about 15 years ago and several months ago I promised I would post some pics for him so he could see how much it had changed, well I eventually got round to it a few days ago, I'm quick like that

15 years ago it was a dirt track with a few shophouses that sold Thai food, now it's a 4 lane highway which is a continual traffic jam and some fine restaurants, including a kebab shop, a Russian place, several Italians, loads of Indians, plus of course the famous opal restaurant that once served me a second hand spaghetti bolognaise, obviously that was the last time I went there, my dogs don't mind second hand food but I feel humans should draw the line somewhere.

    anyway here is the beach.

This is at the far end which is rarely very busy.

When he was last here there was nothing over 4 storeys high, that has changed slightly over the last few years, from this room I can see 12 high storey buildings, then again back in those days even an English teacher could have afforded to buy beach front land, now it's 20 million per rai

Of course back in the old days if you wanted to buy a can of cold drink in one of the shacks you would of course have first wiped off all the dirt off of the top of the can, but now they got 7/11s nice and clean with proper tills so they can't rip you off, yep things have evolved here in Jomtien, anyway they got about 4 7/11s here in Jomtien now, aint those 7/11s great

As you can see in the next pic we even have sidewalks here, these they done quite a good job of and looks quite nice, but alas the storms are too heavy here and they soon get washed away, still at least they tried which is a lot compared with other areas of Thailand.

As ever the work carries on in Jomtien into trying to make it into a world class resort, and once they stop all the muggings and clean up all the rubbish, and train the natives to speak English I feel sure they will be able to

All of this is lovely but I am waiting for the Dog to talk about that sweet area between Jomtien and Pattaya, in and around the hill. Always have loved that area.

I went to pattaya once a few years ago. Pulled up on what I now gather is beach road or something at 7am took one look and headed further down the coast about 15 minutes. Stayed in some resort that had heaps of pine trees on the beach.

If it was just past Jomthien you are talking about Sunset bungalows just as you enter Sattahip district. Very nice, palms, beachfront, nice pool, and secluded bungalows.
