    Krua Tar Khanum Restaurant

Krua Tar Khanum Restaurant is miles away from anywhere, it is at Thong Pa Phum which is in between Kanchanaburi and the 3 Pagodas Pass, so they aint seen many farangs there, this place is open till midnight so is the place to go as every where else in town seems to close at 8pm, when I first got there the staff had an arguement over who was going to serve me, yep none of them wanted to approach the white man, eventually they forced one of the young ladies over to take my order, she was quite shocked when I ordered Yam Nua gup khoa ploa, spicey beef salad with plain rice, I then asked for an ashtray aswell, during the evening the ashtray never arrived but luckily they had some convienant plant pots which worked quite well as an ashtray.

10 minutes later my spicey beef salad arrived, I did wait for another 5 minutes for the rice but eventually gave up on that idea, yep they werent gonna bring it

The table next to me had a group of 6 Thais, one lady kept filling her glass up with whiskey and coke, then she would slam it down on the table and down it in one, I got to admit I got quite bored with her shouting at her friends that she wasn't drunk as her words got more slurred, but apart from that the place is ok, well she also kept making phone calls aswell and obviously from her replies they were asking if she was drunk, then a young well dressed couple arrived with their poxy toy poodle, can things get worse?

This place specialises in river fish, as I only eat trout and they dont have trout I ignored that part of the menu.

The poxy poodle, the staff tried to feed it stuff but the dog just ignored them.

Here's their sign, they are on the main highway just before the bridge.

Furniture aint too bad for such a cheap meal.

Took me 3 big bottles of beer to eat this, damn it was a bit too spicey.

I think I have been there.
Did the view out the window look out onto acres of blackness ?

It was the only place open after dark.

I cannot understand why that town is so dead at night.

When I was there the gasline had not been finished and there were gangs of farangs running around with muddy boots during the day.
    So why no nightlife ?

One very nice young lady rushed out and asked me if I knew Robert from England.
Being a gentleman I agreed to pass on her message.

Did you go up the west side of the lake ?
Some nice accommodation up there for 600 baht overlooking the lake.

Neither of the hotels in town are exciting.
Empty and as quiet as the grave.

I stayed in a resort about 10 km up the west bank of the lake.
Huge all teak room about 30 x 16 foot with nice teak furniture and a balcony overlooking the lake. 600 baht.

The restaurant did good and served it on our balcony.
