tesco...it's more expensive than it should, but at least the price is labeled and they have a pretty good selection.

Villa Market is my choice!

They have the 5 liter boxes of french wine for 1500 thb and others for more and for less...

They have as well 3 liters containers...

From first glass till 3 month later, the wine will be fine as no air will enter the container,...i'll post he pic of the stuff....

Makro has good deals also but not the containers..

Chateau Cardboard...yep we used to buy this in NZ when I worked there a long time ago...never managed to keep it for three months tho FRM!...

Been a while since I was there mate, but they used to have a huge choice all be it (can that be one word i.e allbeit?) expensive. Great range of cheese and cooked meats.

Agreed - excellent range of stuff and, as it's in Patong, I doubt many tourists or newbie expats realise what a rip-off the place is. But if you're desperate - like I was for some Branston - you have to pay the price: 299 baht for a 310 gram jar that sells for 75p (52 baht) in the UK. So, roughly 6 times as much.

I remember wandering around Foodland (Sukh soi 3, bkk) looking at the wines and trying to find the most expensive they had. I think they had some around the 30,000 baht mark. Just who would buy a 30,000 baht bottle of wine? Maybe a massage parlour boss like Chuwit Kuntolvisit might send one of his body guards for a bottle or two?

Normally the wine itself is good as they still have to proove the good working of the system not yet fully aproved by many wine lovers...

i never had a cork taste problem with this !!!

First glass can be 3 month ago and still tastes as just open

Those chateau cardboard came out in the 80's, i was going back and forth to Uk for some jobs on a sailing boat, and yes that's the only time it lasted 3 month... It may happen that i leave for a few weeks abroad and it is nice to find it tasty at return...

This particlar in the above pic, went through a BBq of 6 and will soon give out the last drops after a 2 weeks good services, the kids can then play with the balloon found inside...

Those 5 litre boxed wines are great...they do keep relatively fresh.I always pick a couple up from Laos when Im up there,only 350baht for a box!Magic!

I brought these over from England 4 years ago. You put the rubber bung in the wine bottle and use the white plunger device to suck all the air out. Keeps the wine fresh for days.

But I hardly ever use it now as I usually drink the whole bottle.

My own little trick is to tilt the bottle 45 degrees, fill the bottle with gas from a lighter (Propane-Butane mix). The gas, being heaveier than air, displaces the latter, and does not react with the wine (as the oxygen in air does). Recork, and the wine in the bottle easily lasts a few days if refrigerated.

I strongly suggest you refrain from smoking while pouring from or refilling the bottle, though.....

all wine in thailand is radically overpriced, but you gotta have it

wine connection nana square (and other locations) is always a very interesting place to find decent wine, that is if wine in a box is not something you would consider an option.

They have an eclectic and rotating selection from between 500 + baht a bottle. The ideal range in my experience is the 8-900 range for consistency, but there are some really good 500 baht wines and the often have promos where 900+ wines go for around 550

they usually have some really interesting spanish and italian stuff and their aus selection is pretty good too. the best thing is these are not the crap hardys blends that pass as wine the kindom over and the wines rotate out of stock frequently and seem to be properly handled, soemthing that cannot be said about foodland

the wines at foodland are very run of the mill, mostly common international brands at inflated prices. Gato negro anyone?

the selection at villa seems a bit better, but the wines are quite hit and miss and you always have to buy their 2 for 1 specials etc. there are a few there that i really like for around 1200 for 2.
