    Miami Vice - BLAH!!

I suffered through the worst movie in recent memory last night: Miami Vice. I only went to watch it because I'd already seen Pirates of the Carribean (loved that one). But MV was total shit. Bad script, bad acting, bad everything. This should have been an Eric Roberts movie! If you haven't seen it yet, save 100 baht. And save 50 baht when it's on pirated CD. It's that bad!

The Bankok post gave it a surprisingly good rating.
Said the style was beautiful and it was worth seeing for the cinematography alone.

He should have watched 'Kote ruk eng loey' instead, it has subs in English and was pretty funny in places.

It's been getting bad reviews in the UK - a triumph of style over substance and the like. Every still-picture I have seen from the movie has the co-stars looking moody and intense - If I want to experience moody and intense I just have to tell mrs danbo that her choice of shoes were perhaps not the best all things considered - I don't need to waste money on a cinema ticket.

If you liked this you have much more patience than I. Found it a decent movie but slow and over-long. Some places the movie just streched out for no reason I could see other than to make it too fucking long. Could do with a bit of editing IMO. I was very happy to see it end.
Maimi Vice was a silly TV show (best part of any show was that chicks tits in the opening credits). Why would anyone pay to see it "remade?"

The remaking of television shows into movies hasn't been all that popular up to now in the UK.....Which is fine by me as I'm just putting the finishing touches my screenplay of, 'Juliet Bravo - Carnage in the gutters of Hartley'....I'm thinking of Angeline Jolie in the Inspector Darblay role.

well, let me be the first to say that i liked it. in fact, i really liked it.

even if you didn't like the script or the acting, it was great to look at--the lightning flashing over the miami skyline, and the ocean shots between miami and Caribbean quickly come to mind.

dark and moody is what michael mann does best--he directed 'the insider', 'collateral', 'heat', 'thief' and the original 'red dragon' which was called 'manhunter'.

the acting wasn't great, but i think the movie is bigger than its actors.

^Well, some of the scenery was good. But the characters weren't developed well. The plot wasn't developed well. And you kind of got the feeling that everyone was trying their damnedest to get an Acadamy Award.

How about the guy pulling out a gernade after he'd been searched? I guess we were to believe that Columbians were complete idiots.

Did you see the doctor stumble on his lines when he came out of the operating room? That was embarrassing.

If he was trying to piss off the head guy, I can see why he was moving in on his woman. Otherwise, it was a gratuitous love affair that wasn't very believeable.
