    Farang Tramp

    Anyone else spotted this guy?

I was out and about earlier doing a few messages and i spotted this guy on North Sathorn road, close to Rama 4 junction, i stopped and had a quick chat, he said he is from Finland but has always lived on the streets (fuck knows how he got to Thailand) the fucker has nothing, a genuine farang tramp in Bangers. He was drinking whisky from a green tea bottle, he offered me some but i declined. Told me he was looking for NaNa plaza, i kid you not, he said he knew a girl there. i told him he was in the wrong part of town and gave him instructions of how to find it. He was stinking and very dirty. Amazing that he is not locked up as i can not imagine how he could get over a border and back, they would not permit him entry.

Said he was heading to Pattaya soon, i told him he would be in good company down there, slipped him 50 baht and continued my days runnings.

^why? I knew a farang in Thailand who hadn't done a visa trip (or left the country) in 21 years. Just accepted they would never leave the place - unless deported.

    I shit you not.

I know a chap up here in the same boat.

had overstayed by 15 years when I met him 6 years ago.

stayed hidden in the guest house most of the time emerging only for a new bottle of whiskey every morning.

might be dead by now though.

Stinking and filthy, they may still very well let him back over the border. For all the talk, Thai immigration is quite lenient.

If he's on overstay, will not be long before he's picked up on it.

Should be possible to walk in a year from Finland.
Hitchhiking or on a freight ship are other ways to get there without paying any money for transportation.

disagree Maddie, if you're not in the system, doubt you'd have too many worries. And most old timers are not in the system.

I imgaine its not difficult to "not be in the system" just go to a border, check out and then do a uturn and walk right back in. I did it myself yesterady in Nong kai. Checked out and as there was long wait for the bus and I needed a piss walked back into Thailand side and then returned back through immigration to the bus, no one even looked let alone question me.

^I'd imagine you could live down south somewhere and no one would blink an eye if you didn't move off the same spot for years. Too busy thinking about other worries.

Noodles you could have at least done a photoshop so it vaguely looked like Bangkok instead of some pic you just took from elsewhere on the net.

If you keep your nose clean and look like you are no trouble then you can stay on overstay for years. But this guy has stop and search written all over him. Will not be long before they check his passport.

I was taken down the police station just a few months ago for not having my passport on me.

And even since then I've had it checked again by the police, both times in the asoke area.

Do you really think they want to stink up their police station?

    Maddie

Thanks. I've heard that they have started to ask for passports - but in all my time in Thailand (12 years) I was never asked for it once. Strange how these things change. ["strange comment" not intended against you, but just the way the authorities work]

    PS -
I think we may even have had a thread about - have you ever been asked for ID on the forum before

i've been asked many times when done for some driving indiscretion.

never had it on me and they have just fined me the standard 200 baht indiscretion fine and left me on my way.

Of course it is, the only sidewalk in Bangkok with no motorbikes and food carts on it, how stupid of me.

If someone with a bit of credibility other than the well known troll Noodles had posted it, i may possibly have believed it was Bangkok, but there is nothing in the photo that makes me even in the slightest bit convinced it is.
