    Man killed by speeding bus

    Man killed by speeding bus

A motorcycle taxi driver died in Bangkok’s Thon Buri district after a speeding minibus crashed into him from behind, police said yesterday.

The body of Hau Saelim, 52, was found lying next to his motorbike at the mouth of soi Somdet Phrachao Taksin 10, with a route 82 minibus parked nearby. Both the driver and fare collector had fled the scene.
An investigation found that the minibus, which had been travelling from Samut Prakan’s Phra Pradaeng district to the Pahurat area of Bangkok, was racing other buses and hit Hua who was riding in the left lane. The collision forced him into a roadside telephone booth, causing fatal head injuries.
Police found a driver’s licence in the name of Parinya Chusri and said they would contact the bus company to establish if he had been driving at the time of the accident. Both the driver and fare collector could face the charge of causing death by reckless driving.
Meanwhile, another man was killed after being hit by a private bus in Bangkok’s Khlong Toei district yesterday afternoon.
Police found the body of a man in his 40s lying near his bicycle at the Pridi intersection on Sukhumvit Road. He had suffered severe head injuries.
Wannee Kaewsai-in, the fare collector on the route 116 bus, told police that a passenger screamed that a man had been hit as the bus pulled away from a set of traffic lights. Driver Komwassana Srikamhaeng, 29, brought the vehicle to a halt but then fled the scene. Police are now hunting for him.

Safer to be inside them than outside it would seem.

All you fools, silly enough to ride bikes around Bangkok, please take care.
Did it once and I swear I'd never drive through that place again.

    Always wondered that myself.

Everytime there is an accident the just up and fuck off.

I've always figured it was because they were full of piss or drugs at the time and need to clean out before facing up.

If that's not the reason, then it is pretty fucking funny behaviour (in a black humour kind of way!) particularly when the fare collector fucks off with him!

"Hey Somchai! Grab your hat. I've just hit some old prick and he's not moving. We best be off!"

In Thailand insurance is the driver's responsibility NOT the bus owners.

Well, I do sometimes. But, once I did see a driver drinking a can of Chang at 0645.

But, then I can remember once doing the same thang. However, I wasn't driving a bus though...

My guess is they are afraid of being lynched by an angry mob. A highly realistic scenario in many cases , IMHO......

Once my wife and I were riding a Green Monster from Udon to Nong Khai when we came upon a horriffic accident on the main highway. A bus EXACTLY like the one we were riding in had swerved to avoid a car (prick) that pulled out in front of it and tipped over into a canal. At least a six people had been taken to hospitals and there was blood everywhere. We got off at the next stop.

Why? To have closer look? To change to another bus? Or perhaps to hitch a ride in the back of a pick-up? Or because you had arrived?

    Just curious.....

it does actually dont it, if some cnut pointed a gun at me in my car I would run the cnut off the road, I would call that self protection and would hope the police and papers hailed me as a hero, then again I probably wouldn't stop after my heroic deeds

According to witnesses, the driver of a six-wheel truck belonging to the 109 Construction company lost control of his vehicle and it crashed into the popular roadside restaurant, killing the two people instantly.
The dead man was aged 45, the lady 42. She was the sister of the lady who owns the restaurant. An 18-month-old boy was among those lucky enough to escape without being injured.
