It's better to give than receive

What have you bought as pressies, and for who.....or is that whom?

Mate - New Order Collection DVD. I was a bit disapointed with this (well I had to watch it first to check it was okay). Most of the videos were crap. I've also go him The Painted House by John Grisham......that's the book, not an actual house that John Grisham has painted.

Mate's Wife: Whiskey and Cigarettes from duty free on the way home.

Mate's Daughter - Sims2 for Nintendo DS.....This will work on a Sony PSP right?

Mum - The complete DVD set of Inspector Moose - 30 odd episodes. For those unfamiliar with UK TV this is a series about a cerebral moose detective who solves woodland crimes with the help of his trusty badger sidekick, Lewis.

swmba - Nothing yet......must think hard.......must think hard.....

For the rest of you - My hopes and wishes that your holiday period sparkles with happiness and that you don't step into any dog poo.

Hmmm... I've not got anyone anything yet. Mum's coming in February so the family can wait until then, and the new squeeze is Thai/Buddhist so I'd hate to insult her and assume she's a Christian in any way.

So, it looks like I'm sorted!

PS - I bought the issus a mini DVD player that she can carry in her suitcase and watch all her Thai movies on when she's travelling around. Gave it to her on Thursday as she is in Brisbane over the Xmas weekend working.

    She loved it

The only present I have bought is a dvd burner for my sons pc, by now I had assumed there would be faster ones on the market and I was going to give him my old one, but they are basically the same specs so he may aswell use the new one

I am not christian and none of my closer family is but I bought a lot of gifts too and we have christmas very traditional way. After all, the christmas tree has not much to do with religion.
Nevertheless, Buddhist or not, if my wife were here she would expect to get included into the christmas stuff.

^Is it not the case that the custom of Christmas trees originated in Germany Fab? Or was that Christmas cards. Anyhow, I think Albert brought one over for Victoria.....something like that....or not.

On the receiving side my mum got me (at my request) the BBC series of The Great War. I've watched the first couple of episodes and it is very good. A dreadful waste of life - a large portion of a generation wiped out.

    I think so.
In addition, even before they heard about christianity, germany were sitting in the woods around a fireplace celebrating winter solstice, therefore it originally is a pagan holiday.

I make a point of falling out with all my friends and family around half way through December and then make up with them around the start of January.
It seems to work quite well.

^yeah only joking KK, although thanks for the concern .......I know that these games don't need any type of console - you just hold them up to the light and twist them around like a kaleidoscope, right?......

Bloody hell, kaleidoscopes! How old does that make you feel. Imagine giving one of them as a present, "You're having a fcking laugh, ain't yer!?".

My Mum sent me some money though
Ah money......the best present money can buy.......

^ LoL, I try not to post about things I can't spell...like Kaladascopes

I actually am turning into my Dad. I resent buying shit for my kid as he just bloody breaks stuff, and he can't even colour within the lines....I get sooo angry sometimes! I might get him an empty cardboard box as he seems to like them as much as what's in 'em.

Got the wife a really nice leather briefcase, the kids get jackets, shirts, CD rom games, which my computer does not support so I have to buy a new graphics card. A new globe that has the earth and moon cycles, and some other cool magnet games. Lastly really great Timex watches. They can finally tell the damn time.
