Using concrete profiles to make the exterior of your house nice

Concrete profiles are as cheap as chips here in thailand so you really aint got no excuse for not using them.

This stuff you drill a few holes in, then as your screwing the profile in you chuck a load of cement in behind it to get to stick aswell, keep the cement lean as you really do want to get the poxy thing to stick and it dont stick too good to walls that have already been rendered off, these look great if you paint them in a color to high light them, I shall nip down the concrete profile shop tomorrow to get some more pics of the stuff available.

Not really, these kind of line profiles aren't suited for our property, but some nice flowery Art Noveau pattern might be something I'd consider.

Haven't seen anything of the kind around here.
Seriously, I have some homemade models for swirly home-made garden tiles, which I just don't have the energy to follow through into something usable, it's all the missus fault, she doesn't appreciate my art work and design much.

Here's a model for stepping stones in the garden, about 1' dia:

That looks a bit impractical as a stepping stone. Tough on bare feet and collecting water in the grooves.

But I would expect that you could make a mould from it to turn out the stones if you wanted.

Here is a double shop house done out with concrete profiles on Soi Theprasit, before it was painted it did look way over the top, now I quite like it, sort of colonial look.

As you can see in this picture there are many differant types of straight profile for high lighting windows or door ways, these are cut down to the size you need with an angle grinder, and screwed and cemented onto the wall.

Are these molds made of foam with a light coat of stucco (rendering)? Or is it some light weight concrete?

Nope, real concrete.

They make excellent playgrounds and toilets for thousands of jing joks and will need to be painted every 6 months to retain any resemblance of thier initial effect.

That better be possible because I have a small section of wall that needs a profile-strip fitted. We have a friend who is a graphic designer (nothing to do with construction) but he instantly pointed out a secion of wall where there wasn't a clear separation between the top half and the bottom half of the house, so if we were going with a two-tone paint job like is all the rage at the moment, then we'd end up with a silly 'line' where the darker paint of the lower walls meets the lighter paint of the upper half. So he suggested to get a piece of profiling fitted to ease the transition. It's only a 2 meter stretch, everywhere else there's roofing, balconies or other elements that clearly separate the bottom part from the top part of the building.

It seems so obvious in hindsight, but I can't stress enough to befriend any kind of 'design' or creative person, no matter if he designs dog houses or magazine ads or websites. He even had thoughts on re-arranging the garden and move hedges to create a property that overall presents as spacious and balanced as possible.

Then the one type of person to keep OUT at all times is someone who thinks he/she knows about Feng Shui... Or you'll end up with more insane suggestions on how to waste money than you can ever imagine.

why do you think Feng Shui is insane? or even, why would you think a good designer could not believe in the principles of Feng Shui?

I agree there are a lot of people out there who propose all sorts of nonsense in the name of Feng Shui, but if you look at the basic principles, they turn out to be the basis of good design. Just practical and realistic solutions to bad design.

I have to agree with Dr. Andy about Feng Shui: I look for the good design ideas and ignore the superstitious b******t. But then again, . . . just to be on the safe side, I think maybe I'll put a little tortoise thingie on the north side of my new house. . . .
