    Sri Mahamariamman Temple

Had a chance to visit this famous Indian temple off of Silom Road.

They had plenty of signs that said no photos. And boy were they serious! No sooner had I whipped out mine and there was a pack of Indians on my tail. I felt like Custer!

I really don't know why. In this temple 1000s of people come in and out every day, the priests do their stuff and dab red and white smudges on peoples' heads.

Here is the entrance off of the 'soi'.

    A closer look.

Garlands were sold by the bunches.

Since I could not take shots on the inside, I decided to take a gander on the outside. This is what I found.

A young mother and her child out for a stroll. notice the mother's expression.

Plenty of Indian shops everywhere. i don't know what all this stuff is for or how much it costs, but it does look expensive.

Some shops weren't quite as fancy.

Finally, got through looking and thought why not some Indian food? So I went to The Indian Hut a couple of blocks away from the temple.

Lets go inside and meet the cooks.

Grreat food and fairly expensive. The service was great! Here is the waitress and chef.

    Well worth the visit.

There are some more Indian food places along this soi, I was taken to a vegetarian one I wouldn't have spotted by a friend for some great dosas and no alc being served.
    Many close in the evening.
