    Video editing software

Ive got a problem with the video editing software that came with my video camera. When I upload the film onto my PC using the software provided, the playback is very poor (its not the newest video camera (5yrs). If I put it through a DVD player/recorder, the quality in playback is fine.
So my question to any of you experts/enthusiasts is, what software should I use. Thanks in advance.

Assuming you have Windows XP or Vista operating system, if you tranfer the video file directly to your PC, as an Avi, Mpeg4 or Wmv file, by connecting the camera and retreiving the file as with an external drive, you can use Windows Movie Maker that you will have as part of the XP or Vista package. Look in the 'all programmes' tab.

It works very well and can edit, merge, add effects, speed up or slow down and add sountracks or commentary.

You'll need a least 1gb RAM for the programme to run smoothly.

Windows XP: Movie Maker 2.1 Download for XP

Download details: Windows Movie Maker 2.6 for Vista (if the one that comes with Vista doesn't work)

XP has to be at SP2 or later.
