I'm no expert but I having been stung once on a brand name that took months to get fixed I always try and find a local bloke. Specify the kind of thing I want, discuss the pros and cons of new versions of hard ware etc. and then get him/her to put it together. I stress that if I have any problems I expect him to fix em. This last machine came in at 20,000. I've had a few glitches over the last couple of years but the man's done the right thing. 30 minute drive and generally he's right on it. I find it reassuring being as I'm as technically talented as a carrot.

No, they are not -- the KB article that Apple posted, which the fanboi press jumped on, had been removed - and if you had read the original statement, it was not recommending anti-virus software to combat virusware, but rather to introduce additional variables to make virus authors' tasks more befuddling.
Either way, Apple has removed the KB article within hours.
Furthermore, what Mac specific virus' are on the rise? On the rise from 'zero'? Where?
All zealousy aside, your opinion is not unique, as a lot of people base their opinions on something they "...heard from someone that heard somewhere that..."
This is exacerbated by the fact that most of the media regurgitates nearly *anything* without so much as a simple background check, or even so much as listing their original sources (if they did, you would find that many such sensationalist articles all originate from a single misinformed source).
^ macs get targeted with worms, like any other Linux platform
and there have been report from security firms that more virus have been written recently for the macs, so indeed virus are on the rise,
stop spinning the usual blind Mac fan non-sense, macboy
As Macs get more popular malware and the like will become another option for virus writers to take advantage of. Most Mac users are pretty lax about stuff like this and its a virus/malware writers dream. Anti-virus is nowhere near as essential a part of everyday life as it is in Windows but it will no doubt increase in the future.
^^Thankyou.
Try and give a warning and you get it shot back in your face with some silly blog story from a few weeks ago..... Bah lol
If you build your own buying all the parts at cheapest price you will certainly get more bang for your baht. If you don't know how to build it just pay someone that does 300b.
