    How European are you?

Well, for a change, let's talk about Europeans, not Americans.
    How European are you?
Americans are pretty convinced Europe is very divided because of different languages.
But language is only one part of the equation and most Europeans feel closer to each other, whatever the nationality, than they do with Americans.
Probably because we're mainly left or center left in our way of thinking while most Americans are right or center right...
But maybe I'm wrong, at least with the British...
Discussion is an exchange of knowledge, argument is an exchange of ignorance

I agree: you ARE wrong, at least with this Brit! Sod the Frogs, Krauts, Dagos, etc. We're better than all of 'em. And I feel more American than I do European.

And you're clearly pro-American or you would spell "centre" correctly!

Oh come on the Americans are descendants of the brits on top of the fact that we are all mixed anyway. I myself have a bit of English, German, and French. Who gives a rats rear.
But nothing wrong with europe it just that the Americans are the bad guys on the block and not in a good way
And that little American poll said I was 50% so that makes 50% mixed up

I am continental European, but that largish Island in the North Sea is quite likable, or it would be, if it wasn't for the food and the weather.

Ze Krauts don't seem to have a very good image amongst ze European neighbours, maybe it's the accent. But I learned over the years not to come across too strongly (unless I'm posting on the net).

Btw, I scored 11% in the 'American' quiz. I wonder where the 11% come from, I'm 100% German Oak.

From your earlier statements you are now contradicting yourself.
Recall that island in the North Sea?

I think it is more related to the volume, or loudness of the people
But I do appreciate German 'ordnung' and German products in general, no bullshit there.

I dont think that any European would class themselves as being such. It would be ' I am British/French/German etc'. Maybe we officially live in Europe but this is only in a broad sense. Americans dont say that they come from 'The Americas' as this is a continent the same as Europe. Likewise a person from India would not class himself as Asian. To sum up - How European am I - NO, I am not I am British.

Isn't it time for you Englishmen ( yes thats what you are, not brits) to finally realise that Great Britain isn't that great anymore and that the Brittish Empire ended decades ago ?

Today you're just another country in Europe , named England..

Floating around there in the north sea you may not have the feeling of belonging to Europe which also explains your patriotism to your currency and measure system and your driving on the wrong side of the road.

I'm definitely European ! My country is of less importance.

Most people in Britain couldn't give a flying fcuk about the rest of the European nations which we happen to share close proximity to. In fact they are the source of constant aggravation, amusement and piss takes to us. The Americans fair little better, and in general are disliked for their apparent brashness, interference, and their propagation of trash culture.

The days are long overdue when we return to our rightful God given ruling of the seven seas. There's more than a few countries that could do with a good dose of British standards. I know we failed the USA, and the world in the process, and that will be forever on our conscience, and i know our identity is gradually slipping away beneath the tide of immigrants from all corners of the globe, but affiliation with the rest of Europe? No chance

So should Canadians and Mexicans do a mind-meld with us Seppos and become North Americans? Right on amigo!

Europe is a region. Geddit? Like Asia -- from Beijing to Singapore. Naught in common mate. I just can't see some Italian embracing a Norwegian reindeer herder with the enthusiasm you suggest. Or is Scandinavia outside the equation?

For me, whether I like someone or not, I always guage my familiarity with another country on boxing matches. It's a good guage actually.

If a Frog was fightin' a Seppo, who would you pull for?
If a Brit was boxing a Chermin, who's your man?
Sometimes skin color and athletes' attitude clouds my thinking, but not often.

Paki eh? Aren't you in with the Indians (dot, not feather)?
Regional differences aside, don't you feel the motherland's blood coursing through your veins? A familial bond? J&K is all cool, right?

What's a few nukes between friends?

Uh, sorry, didn't think so. Sorta like the Korean ilk toward Japanese.
Sorta like Rwanda and Burundi. Sorta like the Hatfields and McCoys. Sorta like the Sunnis and Shias. Sorta like ...

Common bond my ass. The brotherhood of man does not transcend the soverignty of nations.

OK, maybe I'm coming down too harsh -- discuss, not argue.

Europeans make some kick ass beer! I love you man.

Now this is a very serious subject where you shouldn't use the term "European".

I am also a continental European and can't forget that somebody, some time back, on that largish Island in the North Sea, placed a Vallum Adrianensis across it..I wonder why...and apparently attitudes have not much changed in the less educated caucasians natives of said isle

but it seems that Stroller is one of the very few non anglos here with excellent English skills (and apparently a smattering of classical reminiscents too); wonder how many of you can write German as well as he writes English...

The feeling is mutual and you are just as much the butt of jokes but being "they" more numerous than you, there are many more laughing at you

    Delusional

Time is rapidly approaching that you won't want to be associated with the USofA and fortunately for you that you have your tide of Immigrants to bring a breath of fresh air to your stale long gone shameful colonial past

    -----
I have worked for several years with the EEC and had the pleasure of working with many young professionals belonging to all the various EU countries and all considered themselves Europeans first, of course without forgetting their country of origin.

    The trouble makers
... regardless of nationality... were all the old a-holes (say the over 40 crowd at that time); they all lived in the past with axes to grind, reliving in their fucked up minds, mania of grandeur of times long gone!

    I'm English first & foremost.

I just wish Europe would knock back the uncivilised countries like France and Italy because they are the ones who make all the problems there. Northern Europe (Germany & Scandinavia) should lead and the others follow. Then perhaps Britain would be ready to integrate more fully. Until that happens, Europe as a whole doesn't measure up, so we'll have to keep on backing the troublemakers over the pond.

I have relatives in Sweden that I visit occasionally, but I am not European at all because I wasn't born and raised in Europe.

Americans are pretty convinced Europe is very divided because of different languages.
    This is absurd.

Where did you read this? Did someone tell you this?

Europe is comprised of a minimum of 40 languages from a few different language families. There are several nation states in Europe.

My question to you: where does Europe begin and end?

At the Bosphorus strait and the Urals?
