How much money do you want to make?

We talk about cost of life in Thailand and how much money we need to live here but how much do you want to make?
Are you satisfied with your present income or do you want more?
    And why?
I pretty much think that nobody is satisfied with his/her income, human nature, you always want more, whatever the level...

Europeans in general do not like it.
Americans have no problem with it.
Thais in general do not mind either.
Not sure about the Australians and Kiwis...

I don't know. Supposedly, exceptions prove the rule, so my comments here are redundant.

Our household income has increased nicely over our 2.5 years here to now be approaching 20% of what our earnings were back home. If income was all I wanted, I must have lost the way pretty severely... And I know at least a sprinkling of others who could say the same thing.

So unless multiple exceptions prove the rule, I think you must actually wrong, Bluecat.

I'd like the equivalent of 1K GBP per month.....about 70K B. I'd like this index linked with the gold standard and to take account of the fluctuations of the indexed annuities of a broad range of fiscally independant tax benefical off-shore source funds.

Perhaps everyone wants "more and more" until such time as they begin to appreciate what, exactly, money means to them.

Once they reach that stage of "fiscal enlightment", then I suppose some still want more, because they are of the view that more money equates to more "happiness"...while others are of the view that "happiness" is not a simple function of wealth.

Not sure what it takes to achieve "fiscal enlightenment", though...

Although it is certainly more than a local hire wage in Thailand!!

While happy enough on current income levels here, I suppose THB 120,000 a month household income would allow me to not get too concerned about retirement and the like.

And when you had that? perhaps another 30K for some additional "luxuries?" Agree somewhat with your previous posts. We didn;t come here to get rich. Many of us were making a decent living back wherever. I know I walked away from a still lucrative situation. Coming here is a form of stating (for many of us) that money is not the most important thing in our lives.
But now that we're here, having a fat wallet wouldn't hurt, now would it? if money was all important then I would be back n the US Tax probs and all. i could still do OK. Rather fight and scuffle along here working towards a goal but, at a less intense pace.

from the few very very very rich people i've met, they approach the problem from a different angle, the first step is to eliminate the basic survival recurrent costs like rents, food expenditure, utilities etc. This is easily done..
...my survival outlay here, is near to zero now

Then its just a matter of how much it costs to feed ones vices on a regular basis
...and here the sky's the limit

A rich person is somewho who is satified with what he has.

A poor person is someone who want something, but is unable to get it.

Ever wondered why these HiSo's you see in places like the Emporium and Paragon never really look happy.....?

One of the wealthier men in town is a friend of mine an interesting character. He works fucking hard running his business's and spend a lot of money on motorbikes.

He gave me some good words of wisdom one day though. He said this.

"Mrs Q, you see all these people in their Mercedes and BMWs driving around town. They may have expensive cars and wear expensive clothes but they still haven't made it"

    "Why is that then?"

"They are still driving themselves. You know you have made it when you don't have to drive anywhere anymore"

"Why don't you have a driver then?"

"I wouldn't waste my money on one"

    Good words of wisdom
