OK, looking for some info from you guys that work "outside" the norm.
I'm in the process of re-doing some tech manuals for a friend/acquaintance. It involves heavy editing of the text (ECO - Engineering Change Orders) and doing some editing of drawings using Photoshop, Illustrator and Autocad. The manuals are sent to me in Acrobat PDF with mark-ups.
I'm curious if any of you computer folks have any experience in billing this type of work. He is insistent that money change hands.. soo, I'll oblige if I can get some type of rate structure. Am interested in how similar projects are billed, i.e. by the hour or by the project. As I work at my own pace the project method is probably the fairest.
The work breakdown so far has been roughly;
30% translating and editing the PDF files in Word
20% Photoshop touchup
30% Autocad (wiring diagram changes)
10% Illustrator
10% Quality checking.
Thanks for any inputs
E. G.
