Santa's annual visit just got a little less personal, with teachers in England banning school children from sitting on his knee.

Many British schools have decided to err on the side of caution, telling parents who have offered the play the role of Santa that they cannot let youngster sit on their lap and cannot be left alone with them, the Telegraph reports.

The strict rules are being put in place because those playing Father Christmas are no longer required to pass Criminal Records Bureau checks.
Government guidelines state that those who have not had such a check should not be left unsupervised with schoolkids.

The general secretary of the National Association of Head Teachers, Russell Hobby, said many members had decided it was best if Father Christmases simply avoided all physical contact.

"The climate we work in, and the risks of getting it wrong, mean many school leaders err on the side of caution," Mr Hobby said.

A spokesman for Britain's Department of Education said youngsters could sit on Santa's knee if their parents were asked first and were "completely comfortable" with the situation.

I thought Santa sat in full view of the public in department stores Toy sections. Even if he wanted to, how the hell is he going to molest kids with 100 pairs of parents/shop workers eyes gawping at him?

A decade ago when I was training to a primary school teacher in the UK, competitive sports were banned in the school I was seconded to. The female headteacher decreed the boys might fall over and hurt themselves playing football!!

I was told never to be alone in the classroom with a girl student in case a accusation be made against me. However the loons running the education department also instructed us that when our classes changed for PE we must subtlely inspect the semi-naked kids torsos (boys and girls) for evidence of child cruelty from parents!

The UK Education department is awash with feminists and nutjobs. Still!!!

Sexual abuse like all other forms of abuse is rampant. However Paranoia needs to be put on hold. Normal physical contact between adults and children is just that normal. Sexual abuse does not happen in a public place, with cameras running in front of hundreds of people.
