Rottweiler dogs maul woman to death

    One for the Dog.
A woman in the Czech Republic has been mauled to death by as many as 25 Rottweilers, police have said.

Officers were reportedly called to a house by a woman saying she was being attacked by her family's dogs.

When they arrived at her home, in a village north-west of Prague, police said they found the dogs and the body of a 60-year-old woman.

The dogs - eight adults and 17 young - have been placed in a shelter pending a police investigation.

"Several dogs attacked their owner around 0600 (0500 GMT). She died immediately after suffering serious wounds," police spokesman Daniel Vitek said, according to Agence France Press.
Neighbours quoted in the media said the dogs belonged to the woman's daughter, and were neither fed nor looked after properly.

One neighbour said he had ignored the woman's screams, as the family would often shout at the dogs for barking too loudly.

Implied by the statement that they were not fed. What do carnivorous animals do when they need food? Duh.

^ They do not always eat that which they kill.

Seemingly, you have not had much to do with dogs.

Personal observations causes me to say that in such a situation as above reported, the dominated animals tend to back off after the kill, not immediately devouring anything.

    It was a defence reaction.

Do police/guard dogs start to eat that which they have brought down?
    No.

The dogs I owned used to bring back rabbits they'd killed in the field.
None of them ate their prey.
They delivered the prey to me.

I used to reward them with a bit of liver cut out from the rabbit, away from the sight of the dog.

Once, I made the mistake of gutting a rabbit in front of a dog, and she saw where the food was coming from.
From that moment on, she never brought back her quarry, she ate them in the field.

So, any other myths you need exploding. 'arrybarry?

Actually, there was a story only recently about dogs being left without food and when the owner came back after several days they attacked, killed and fed off him. It was on here, I think.

You seem to have inferred an awful lot from the statement that they "were neither fed nor looked after properly"

Whereas living as I do in a country plagued by packs of feral dogs, I can confirm from personal observation that they will kill and eat anything, domestic pets included, if they are starving.

Which I would assume is the more likely outcome, if they were neither properly trained, managed and fed.

First link found from September this year.

A man in Indonesia left his nine dogs without any food or water for two weeks while he vacationed for the Eid al Fitr holidays. When he returned, his dogs were extremely happy to see him. Not because they loved their owner, Andre Lumboga, but because they were starving. Lumboga was attacked and eaten by his pet dogs shortly after returning home.

According to the Jakarta Globe, Lumboga was attacked by 7 dogs when he returned home after the holidays. The dogs, who had not had food or water in two weeks, also ate two of the weaker dogs.
Lumboga’s body was discovered after a neighborhood guard noticed luggage outside the man’s house, days after he had returned home. The guard approached the house and noticed a funny smell. When police arrived they discovered Lumboga’s mutilated body inside.
A local police chief in Batam, said:
“His skull was found in the kitchen, and his body was found in the front of his house. We suspect that the dogs were hungry, so they attacked Andre, because they had not been fed for 14 days.”
Police say that they were attacked by the 7 dogs when they entered the house and that they had to “paralyze them.”
    Duh.

    After how many days?

The report states that police were called by the woman AS the woman was attacked by her dogs.

Presuming that the cops arrived ASAP, the dogs did not have much time to eat the lady.

As I pointed out above, over-dominated dogs don't usually immediately eat their tormentor(s).
Instead, they know that something unusual has happened, and tend to go into a kind of shock, look and behave guiltily and will wait until one dog starts (usually one of the younger ones) to chew at the cadavre.

Often the older dogs will send the cheeky little bugger away, and wait until top dog decides to have a chew, which he'll do, eventually if hungry enough.

Dogs will display loyalty to a deceased owner after his/her death, they get insecure if the boss is gone, so might sit and guard the corpse.

After quite some time, usually days have elapsed, the dogs will start to eat the cadavre as it starts to stink and does not show the usual living characteristics of the once animated owner.

    Duh.

^^After mass and confession, cleansed and pure, he goes for lunch.

He feels really pure, forgiven and all.

    Then he gets really pissed.

Then he goes and sins some more.

    Same next Sunday.

    Duh.

    His missus is really nice.

She tells me that he doesn't understand her.
