    Switzerland bans the Burqa

France, Belgium, Holland, now Switzerland. Will never happen in England, it's gone bloody soft.

GENEVA (Switzerland) - Swiss parliamentarians approved Wednesday a far-right move to impose a ban on the burqa or other face coverings in some public places, including on public transport.
With 101 votes against 77, the lower chamber of the house approved the motion titled "masks off!".
The draft bill will still have to be examined by the upper chamber.
Put forward by Oskar Freysinger, a politician of the Swiss far-right SVP party, the motion requires "anyone addressing a federal, cantonal or communal authority exercising his or her functions, to present themselves with their faces uncovered."
Burqas would also be banned on public transport, while "authorities can ban or restrict access to public buildings to such individuals in order to guarantee the security of other users."
Explaining the motion, Freysinger noted that "at a time when insecurity is growing in our streets, more and more people are hiding their faces behind a balaclava, a mask or a burqa.
"This makes it impossible to identify these people, a fact that is particularly troublesome in case of violence or identity checks," he noted.
France was the first European Union country to impose a ban on the burqa in public places, while Belgium joined it some months later.
On September 16, the Dutch government also agreed to a ban on the full Islamic veil under a deal with the far-right party of the anti-immigration MP Geert Wilders.

Burkas should be banned on health grounds,
as humans need some sun to regulate our bodies

it has nothing to do with their religion:
their men demand they wear it.
maybe when rickets make a come-back
will these ladies see the light.
the men dress real smart with their 2 piece suits and casual gear.
western kids think the burqa scary or just plain weird.

I don't see nothing wrong with banning the burqa. There is already a law stipulating that masks are not allowed unless during the carnival festivities.

The only one who don't follow the law are leftist black blocks whose prefered past time is to break everything without even knowing why and the muslims who think they can do like at home and cover their wiv.. oops slaves from head to toes.

And of the top of it, all these burqaised women are not allowed to work (by their husbands) and live on social welfare. Now immigration is really a chance for us.

Calling SVP a far-right party is ridiculous. It's just a right-wing party, all the others being some different flavor of left-wing party. But now all the people who vote for a patriotic party are called fascists, nazis or racists.

Maybe the next step is the lefties asking us to leave the country to allow more foreigners to live in our houses. At least I'll not need to leave as I'm already not living anymore in Switzerland.

I am a member of the SVP from the same group as Oskar Freysinger, and by reading my posts you can clearly see that this party has nothing to do with the right-wing.

This is hypocrisy at its finest, pretty fucking stupid too! You invited a bunch of people into your country, but tell them they can't practice their religion! They are protecting womens rights by telling them what they can or cant wear, it makes no sense, black has become white, ugly has become beautiful, etc. Telling people what they can or can't wear isn't the sign of a strong culture, but a scared and insecure culture.

at least they have the commonsense to hide it under an abbayah not flash the industrial strength fat folds in shorty shorts and skimpy tops as a lot of western women do.

The burqa/niqab is an affront to every man's right to check a woman out if she walks past.

I hope they are not banned from porno movies though

Bullshit. It has nothing to do with the religion, and it isn't in the Quran.

It's a bunch of beardy, chauvinist twats who, if the women don't wear it, will kick the shit out of them.

    Get real, will you?

Ridiculous, I am completely against it. A government has no right to tell people what they can and can't wear, it is a very slippery slope, I wonder what will be next.

There are things not in the quran, but are expected to be followed by Muslims. That is not even the issue here though, the issue is we have a Government telling people how they can dress.

I don't think it is about religion at all. Would you wear a balaclava showing only eyes (possibly colored contacts) to go in a bank? It could easily be a man with a gun under that niqab. Like it or not, we live in an age of terrorism. Multiple video surveillance camera's can now be searched in real time by computers in real time. Like 'find all the ones wearing a blue jacket' in a large city area, done in seconds. Hair color and facial recognition, in a flash. How can security work with 'find someone wearing a niqab' when hundreds of thousands fill the output of thousands of cameras? It is about the rapidly evolving security technologies. Did you know that a 2' sphere that hovers and flies, up to 5000', and can be steered down alleys and up stairs, has been invented? We seem to be rapidly approaching 'Skynet', and we should all be scared. Shit far beyond the understanding of third world countries is already upon us.

Has the blood of the sun,
    The hilt of the sword
and the hand, are as one!"

The Saudi government, the pakistani government, the Iranian governments tell people what to wear. Are you OK with that?

Nope, a burqa is the full thing, body, face, and hair covered. The niqab is a component of the burqa. A burqa comprises jilbab, hidjab, and niqab.

Well Saudi obliges all visiting women to wear it while in their country, so it's a good kickback !

Anyway once out of their country they mostly over abuse what all they ban in their place, be it sex, alcohol and more, specially the ones in power and rich...
