US Business Class Air Rage Wank Gets Jail Term

    23 September 2011 - 13:43 GMT
BBC: Timothy Bradley jailed for drunken rant on BA flight

A US businessman who drunkenly abused staff on a British Airways flight to London has been jailed for three months.

Timothy Bradley, 32, a mortgage consultant, of Phoenix, Arizona, had pleaded guilty to common assault and being drunk on an aircraft.

The incident took place on 20 August on a Phoenix to London flight.

Isleworth Crown Court heard Bradley swore at staff and was abusive after he was refused more alcohol.

The businessman had been drinking beers and bourbon cocktails with friends before boarding the flight and had continued to drink once aboard.

    'Fear and distress'

Early on in the flight he began chatting up a female crew member, Charlotte Howell, who was replaced by her male colleague Stuart Williams, after she felt uneasy.

The businessman told Ms Howell "I love you" after she served him champagne, but
he denied telling her she was "sexy".

When Mr Williams replaced her and refused to serve him drinks, he swore at him.
The court heard that Bradley, who had also refused to turn down the music on his laptop, was aggressive towards John Manson, the head of cabin crew, when he was brought in to calm the passenger.

The court heard Mr Manson feared being attacked when Bradley aggressively confronted him and was so close that his spit landed on Mr Manson's clothes.
Bradley told him: "Do you think I'm going to stab the pilot?".

    'Thoroughly abusive'

The businessman was also handed a written warning about his conduct, which he threw away, and crew on the flight had restraints ready for him, the court heard.
He was arrested soon after the Boeing 747 landed at Heathrow Airport.

Sentencing Bradley, Judge Richard McGregor-Johnson said: "You were thoroughly abusive, threatening, making foul remarks to a number of people and [Mr John Manson, the head of cabin crew] quite plainly thought that he was about to be attacked.

"This happened on an aircraft in a confined space and caused, I've no doubt, fear and distress to others who of course could not escape from you."

The court was told Bradley was "totally and utterly ashamed" about his behaviour which was "out of character" for him.

He has been in custody for 32 days and will now serve another two months in jail.
My mind is not for rent to any God or Government, There's no hope for your discontent - the changes are permanent!

Fair point. They probably call themselves "Professional" Mortgage Consultants too. I've noticed the word 'professional' has lost all meaning in the US.

EDIT: Knew it - Of course they do -http://www.mdmtgpros.org/

You aren't going to get away with that on BA flight. The humourless cabin crew are either heinous dogs or Butterfly-like gay boys.

I feel its only a matter of time before these nutters fvk it up for all and sundry who fly and like a couple of drinks along the way ,,,,,,, the elf and saftey brigade will ban all alcohol on flights and bring in a breath test before boarding ,, and yes I am speaking as a non drinker , but I am dead against these blanket rules that spoil it for everyone

I figure he got wot he dee-served. But there is unfair sentencing in the UK as we know - rip off the rich and go to prison, randomly kick someone to death within an inch of their life at closing time and it's just "prolls fighting prolls" - and a summary sentence is handed down.

See this - where the prolls and money collide - money wins.

That's only going to make the attitude of some of these flight attendants, who already behave much like the female guards at Auschwitz, even worse.

The guy was an ass, but if he flew Thai Airways in business class, I'm sure they would have handled it far more gracefully. A well-placed smile and one more drink could have changed the outcome to having repeat customer instead of one bitter jailbird and disturbed business class customers.

Not implying anything naughty, but the Thais just have a gentle way of defusing conflicts rather than building them up like the Brits or Americans.

Dont be so negative. This happens with every carrier. BA just is the most popular, and imho very good. Try luftwaffe... mean lufthansa next time

For me, Thai Air has always been a pleasure against a fucking flight of 10+ hour. Better service than fucking euro crap national carriers and better food too

That's the best advice fuk them -and fly ABBA - Anyone But British Airways!

they employ the worlds best paid cabin staff ,but most look like they lost any enthusiasm for the job 30 years before .
At one point the PC airline took the Union Jack flag off the tail, and changed the name to simply BA
I Flew with them one time to USA, never again

They could have watered his drinks down or something
