Wikileaks : Assange to run for the Senate

Assange to run for the Senate
    Sunday, March 18, 2012

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange plans to run for a seat in the Australian Senate, the group has announced on Twitter.

Wikileaks announced its intentions on Saturday, saying the organisation also planned to field a candidate to run against Prime Minister Julia Gillard in her seat of Lalor at the next election.

'We have discovered that it is possible for Julian Assange to run for the Australian Senate while detained. Julian has decided to run,' the Wikileaks website tweeted.

Assange is being detained in England facing possible extradition to Sweden, where police want to question him over allegations that he sexually assaulted two women in 2010.

Assange is a bit of a cock but he does good work. I'd love to see him elected.

I'm not saying it wouldnt happen, we elected Pauline Hanson and Peter Garrett too.

I doubt he'd make a good senator or politician.

Would not mind Assange to get in, could even say fresh good thing to happen. Probably I wish all the luck for him then.

As for Peter Garrett, at least he believes in the stuff he is proposing, even if it ends in a disaster in some cases. And I like Midnight Oil, actually listening to them right now - because of this thread.
