I am from North Tennessee less than a mile from the Kentucky line. There are many Menoite which are basically the same as Omish. There were accidents very often with the buggies because cars didn't see them at night. They put the red triangle reflectors on and the accidents all but disappeared. Now, an accident with one is rare.

There are a lot of different branches, but you can call the Amish "Mennonites" accurately, they are just a very conservative sect of the "plain people."

I'm not sure who is the worst dickhead; these people or the nanny state that does not let adults decide their own fate. I could understand the State telling them they cannot transport children without the silly triangle, but if they want to die themselves, that should be an adult decision.

It's good for me to read stories like this, reminds me why I choose to live in Thailand.

Damaged buggy. Dead Amish men, woman and children, dead horse, injured or dead car passengers, damaged car, possible damage, injuries or death to other road users as the car swerves at the last minute.....nah, safe as houses.
