Nothing like getting away from city life and experiencing the fairy tale, existence of the country side. When I lived in Cumbria, I remember having a pint in a village pub, and hearing some tourists from the south complaining about the dress of a couple of sheep farmers. Shouldn't be allowed brought tone down, the smell was ruining the ambiance, laughing at the accent, can't even speak english.

30 years later went back. No farmers but full of touroids experiencing an authentic cumbrian village experience over a glass of wine and scampi and french fries (of course in an authentic cumbrian basket) Greeeee on of the reason I came to Canada

Like cheese, Many types and flavors. The whinging ones are the ones that a flavor free, full of their own importance, think that they are the new elite of the new and greeter Britain.

I too went on holiday to a area in thailand which is famed for its lovely wine bars and cafe scene named 'Soui Kaobouy' and was 'MOST DISGUSTED' at the smell of fish and piles of old Trout laying around the pavement having been soaked in alcohol first.
I too complained to the master of the area Mr Turdsak Nickyawallet that the area was not friendly to tourists and he at least had the fore thought to have a contingency plan and offered me a evening out with his lovely daughter by way of compensation.

So come on England pull your socks up you can do better for the tourist.

PS, if any one sees a lovely lady with long hair and brown eyes carrying a new iphone 4 could you ask her to return it. She borrowed it but in her haste to get home she err forgot to give it back.

Six months as a Thomson rep in Spain in 1992 One woman in tears the first day because there was no kettle in her self catering apartment. I suggested she used the saucepan - she demanded to be flown home. Most common complaint was the naked people on the beach (it was Fuerteventura). "It's OK in the football club showers but not in front of the wife and kids". Was frequently told that there were too many foreigners and that was spoiling their holiday. Worse, some of them were German.
Best six months of my life though. An hour in the morning drinking espresso and an hour in the evening with a beer .... "did you have a nice day at the beach". Free food from a four star hotel and a free car from a local rental company who appreciated me sending them clients more than the commission from the Thomson "approved" rental outfit.

I think that's what he was getting at, yes.

If they were for human consumption, what were they doing in the sun covered in flies?

If they were excess to requirements, they should have been diposed of.

Either way, the guy has a point. He wasn't saying "How dare you have fish on the dock?" He was saying "I got a case of crabs down by the key, and the plaice smells like a whorehouse at low tide." (Couldn't resist.)

IT's a Working Harbour! for gods sake. Not a theme park. Many harbors work to the tides not the Tourist day. Fish wharfs stink in Canada Thailand America and yea even in good old England. Get a grip the real world is full of flies especially the non concreted areas. Maybe try Disney land next year!

I grew up on a farm.

It is best this guy and his family keep away from such places otherwise they will never eat food. I suppose farmers could always hose down the pigs and spray them with perfume but I'm not sure how long that would last.

...and after a night shooting rats I confess to leaving them in a heap since I was too tired and it was too dark anyway. Many a dead fox was left in the field until someone got around to collecting it.

In agricultural settings there is a lot of unsightly, smelly, waste produce and you cannot devote scarce resources to aesthetics.
I see fish. They are everywhere. They don't know they are fish.
