The appearance of a 10-year-old model striking salacious poses in the French edition of Vogue magazine has sparked a public outcry and reignited the debate over the sexualisation of children.
Thylane Loubry Blondeau is pictured wearing makeup and high heels in a series of provocative positions.
Her pout and disinterested stare make her look older than her age, but it may not come as a great surprise, considering Blondeau reportedly took her first steps on the catwalk at the age of five.
Blondeau is the daughter of former France international football player, Patrick Blondeau, and Veronika Loubry, a former presenter on French television.
The images have been slammed by critics who say they create an ideal that other children will not be able to live up to and force children to consider body image issues at an age where they should not be overly concerned about their appearance.
"This isn't edgy. It's inappropriate, and creepy, and I never want to see a nine-year-old girl in high-heeled leopard print bedroom slippers ever again," Chloe Angyal, editor of Feminsting.com wrote.
