Man fills 22 trolleys at supermarket and has credit card denied
A shopper managed to load 22 trolleys full of drinks and crisps amounting to £3,338 before his card was declined at the till.
Staff of supermarket Morrisons in Barry, South Wales were left to return each and every item to its rightful shelf after the mystery shopper found he couldn't pay for any of the items he had bought, it was reported.
Three staff members escorted the shopper round the aisles filling 22 trolleys with thousands of pounds worth of spirits, beer and fizzy drinks.
The Morrisons employees were under the impression that the vast quantity of food was for a charity event which the shop then advertised over their announcement system.
A new till aisle was opened for the shopper before his card was repeatedly rejected when he attempted to pay.
Store manager Tony Ware told the Mirror: 'He said he wanted to do quite a large shop for a raffle on the waterfront with balloons and inflatables to raise money'.
A spokesman added: 'It turned out he had some mental illness problems -
he meant well.'
