Jesus - He's not the son of God, just the support act for Islam

He's not the son of God, just the support act

    Aaron Cook

    May 28, 2011

CHRISTIANS in Sydney will have their core beliefs challenged by provocative advertisements due to appear on billboards and buses in the next month.
The ads, paid for by an Islamic group called MyPeace, will carry slogans such as ''Jesus: a prophet of Islam'', ''Holy Quran: the final testament'' and ''Muhammad: mercy to mankind''.
A phone number urges people to call to receive a free Koran and other Islamic literature.
    Advertisement: Story continues below
The organiser of MyPeace, Diaa Mohamed, said the campaign was intended to educate non-Muslims about Islam. He said Jesus was a prophet of Islam, who was to come before Muhammad. ''The only difference is we say he was a prophet of God, and they say he is God,'' Mr Mohamed said. ''Is it thought-provoking? Yes, it is. We want to raise awareness that Islam believes in Jesus Christ,'' he said.
Mr Mohamed said he hoped the billboards would encourage Christians and Muslims to find common ground. They were not intended to downgrade the significance of Jesus. ''We embrace him and say that he was one of the mightiest prophets of God.''
MyPeace plans to extend the campaign, funded by private donations, to television.
The Anglican Bishop of South Sydney, Rob Forsyth, said it was ''complete nonsense'' to say Jesus was a prophet of Islam. ''Jesus was not the prophet of a religion that came into being 600 years later.''
But the billboard was not offensive, he said. ''They've got a perfect right to say it, and I would defend their right to say it [but] … you couldn't run a Christian billboard in Saudi Arabia.''
The bishop said he would pay for billboards to counter those of MyPeace if he could afford it, and ''maybe the atheists should run their billboards as well''.
A spokesman for the Australian Islamic Mission, Siddiq Buckley, said the campaign would increase awareness of the positive facts of Islam. ''I would be looking at this as a good opportunity to explain what we mean.''

I can't believe a supposedly educated Christian doesn't know what the Quran says.

It's common knowledge. It's why we are allowed to celebrate Christmas in the sandpit as along as we don't make reference to Jesus being the son of God. They get all shitty about that bit.

Fairly obviously, whoever wrote the Quran put this bit in to appease the Jesus wheezers.

Wasn't it supposed to be have been written by some geezer called "God"?

Then a fairy called Gabriel delivered it to some muzzie geezer (can't remember his name) who couldn't read anyway.

I may have missed out a few details but apparently it was quite a long time ago although it all sounds like complete bollox to me.

There are some areas where you have to give Islam credit. The idea that Christianity was founded because this Joseph dude marries a chick called Mary and then the two of them travel half way across the ME on a fucking donkey, and she is still a virgin when they get to Bethlehem, but ends up casting a bambino in a cow shed is pretty fucking lame...no wonder the mozzies felt the need to come up with a new religeon...

I reckon you and I agree on most points and to be perfectly honest I'm so pissed off with reading about religious people, their bigotted views and listening to their pompous oppinions about others.

Fuck religion, it's been used as an excuse to wage war, murder people for centuries!

p.s. Nuking the ME won't work cos most of the relgious fanatical muzzies have left the shit hole!

Ironic perhaps, but Jews and Muslims are more likely to find common ground on the basis of food laws, number of wives, common ancestry, violent doctrine.

    Exactly as I see it.

Mary was a slut, screwed around behind Joseph's back and had to think something up.

That Joseph must have been really dumb.

"My imaginary god can beat up your imaginary god" never ceases to entertain, when they're not killing people in the name of them of course. Christians vs Muslims, nothing has changed in 1300 years but the date on the calendar.

The good people of Sydney are more interested in whether the Blues will ever win a State of Origin footy game.

They're as interested in religion as they are in the Large Hadron Collider!

Have been struggling to speak to this....it's a matter of how big...or small is your delusion....

it is a matter of fact that there is an African-American ghetto lad who believes he rules the world.... at the moment....

others believe in a God....some even believe in Jesus....

it is also a fact that those that believe in nothing....are by default nothing...

so the kindness take is possibly to leave every ones delusions...big or small.... alone....

as the nothingness will come soon enough..........

but you have gotta hand it to those Muzzies............
i am just the nowhere man...

Jesus billboard loses its prophet margin

    Louise Hall

A PROVOCATIVE billboard carrying the slogan ''Jesus: a prophet of Islam'' has been vandalised one day after it was posted on one of Sydney's busiest roads.
The billboard is one of three paid for by an Islamic group called MyPeace and features a phone number for people to call to receive a free Koran and other Islamic literature.
The organiser of MyPeace, Diaa Mohamed, said the vandalism of the billboard at Victoria Road, Rozelle, ''validates the reason they went up in the first place''.
    Advertisement: Story continues below
Since the billboards were erected in Darlinghurst, Rozelle and Rosehill on Thursday and Friday, and featured in the Herald on Saturday, Mr Mohamed said he had been inundated with phone calls and emails.
''I've had overwhelmingly positive feedback from Christians, atheists, Muslims, everyday Australians, saying, 'we support you and keep up the good work','' Mr Mohamed said.
''About 10 per cent of phone calls have been really offensive, saying, 'how dare you, go back to your own country, no one wants Muslims here'.''
Mr Mohamed said the damage to the billboard would not affect his plans to display similar ads on buses travelling through the city and in the Hills district, and eventually, on television.
The slogans, such as ''Holy Quran: the final testament'', and ''Muhammad: mercy to mankind'', were designed to raise awareness that Islam believed in Jesus Christ, and encouraged Christians and Muslims to find common ground, he said.
The Muslim community had been supportive of the campaign, which was funded by private donations. ''I wasn't sure how they were going to receive it, if they'd think I was stirring trouble, but they have been supportive as well, and really proud.''
Mr Mohamed plans to have the damaged billboard fixed today.
Last week, the Anglican Bishop of South Sydney, Rob Forsyth, said that while it was ''complete nonsense'' to say Jesus was a prophet of Islam, the billboard was not offensive.

God seemed a lot more credible back in the days when God was a big ugly statue that they sacraficed people in front of....had a real sense of wonder, and crowd appeal about it. The God that is supposed to be everywhere but nobody can see him needs a makeover to stay in vogue with most people. To make matters worse, you can not rely on prophets..they are almost always full of shit..
