    Cairo Protests

    It's Big:

That's scores of people shining their lasers up at a military helicopter. Or, as NBC News might say, "two people."

The BBC has estimated that this is the largest political protest... in world history. Which seems possible. Have 17 million ever protested a government before?

    Defiance

Wouldn't be booking a Nile Riverboat Cruise or checking out the Pyramids right now...

Only 3 Arab/Muslim uprisings that the US has failed to support, and all against Sharia/Islamism. Turkey, Egypt, Iran 2009.

Speaks volumes about the black bloke.

Just another example of his 'Smart Diplomacy' don't you know...

THE BBC ON THE EGYPT MARCHES: “The number of people protesting today is the largest number in a political event in the history of mankind.”

The military is telling Morsi to step down and call for new elections within 48 hours.

    Will become interesting.

Morsi missed this bit of political wisdom. "It's the economy, stupid."
Granted he inherited an economic mess but his failure to do anything to mend Egypt's miserable economy is the issue. Rather than making moves to improve the economy his number one priority, he got side tracked with Islamic issues. The Egyptian majority want a strong economy and jobs. Screw all this Islamic state crap.

    Morsi is toast!

Yet another Middle Eastern country that the West has interfered in and tried to bring their style of democracy to and failed yet again miserably. Like the other countries that the politicians think they have brought freedom and democracy to it looks like Egypt is going to be another basket case for decades to come.
It seems the politicians have learned nothing from Iraq and Afghanistan
Treat everyone as a complete and utter idiot and you can only ever be pleasantly surprised !

Good poinnts posted. This thread may have some long legs.

Economy in the tank, lots of unemployed youth that know their lives will not likely improve. Corruption.

True, Mubarak was a puppet of the US for decades and now it will likely take many years or more for Egypt to find its political leadership.

I'd like to see the polling on (if there is one) on the 'conservatives' vs. the liberal/reformer' division - if there is one.

With the West helping the Syrian rebels, the outcome will be democracy in Syria, and a success story. (as usual)
Are we not proud of the Wests success in bringing democracy to the oppressed of this region.

And what's interesting the banners on the streets are anti-Obama and not anti-America. The US Ambassador is in hot water too.

That means you, Barry. But we're sure they’ll still take the free cash, tanks, and fighter jets

This was a military coup. The opposition parties are quite peeved that some in the west are having the audacity to call it what it is.

Guess your average Omar isn't as hip (no pun intended, Bert) on the Muslim Brotherhood as we were led to believe:

    Morsi broke too many promises...

Interesting development ... Can't help but think of Thailand when it comes to a military coup.

Not defending Morsi. Just saying, there is no sugar coating what happened with populist rhetoric. The army has arrest warrants out for 300 of the Muslim Brotherhood leadership. Its going to piss off a sizable portion of the population.

The MB were banned under Mubarak (remember that tyrant?), as well as much of the ME and north Africa. Why? Because secular Arab/Muslim leaders tend to know and understand their own people far better than naive and willfully ignorant Western leaders.

As soon as Mubaak was thrown under the bus and the MB given a "democratic" mandate, they moved the country towards Islamism which is their true and proud colour. It took the people a couple of years to get their shit together, but they finally realised they were shafted - with the collusion of the West, and now want the freedoms they were promised by our malicious leaders and complicit media.

Obama should be well humiliated. But good news is it might encourage him and his Euro puppets to reconsider their insistence to finance, arm, train and give moral support to AQ and other Islamist groups in Syria, ultimately to replace Assad with an Islamist leadership that will, non-libtards should hope, be rejected by the people.

hard to give even a passing fuck about these awful places and their politics when the uk itself is in turmoil with economic problems, waves of government and media inspired self hatred, islamification, uncontrolled immigration from shithole countries, violent crime, lack of resources, a collapsing health care system and police and fiscal corruption.

as with syria, let them get on with it however they see fit. all the west needs to do is ensure that their problems and the people that cause them are not allowed to take root in our countries.

army rule is probably best for them anyway. break a few heads, keep them in line, string up the troublemakers, democracy is too advanced a concept for them right now. tough love is what they need. aaaah the good old days.
