    Giveaway pledge by billionaires

I wouldn't mind if these guys did me good.....just nit noi !

    Did well ? Do good

    That'll be a hell of a write-off.
Forty American billionaires, including Mayor Bloomberg, publicly pledged yesterday to donate at least half of their fortunes to charity.
Led by the two wealthiest men in America, Bill Gates and Warren Buffett, the deep-pocketed titans who have signed the Giving Pledge will finance charities involved in medicine, education, arts and poverty eradication around the world.
"The reality of great wealth is that you can't spend it and you can't take it with you," Bloomberg, who is worth $18 billion, said in a written statement.

"Nearly all of my net worth will be given away in the years ahead or left to my foundation."
The mayor further explained in a conference call that he had no qualms about not passing on his fortune to daughters Georgina and Emma, saying he doesn't want them to turn into idle rich who will boast, "I was a member of the lucky sperm club."
Buffett, worth $47 billion, said so far he's gotten a "terrific response." He said he had personally reached out to 80 individuals during a series of dinners hosted with Gates, who is worth $53 billion, to convince them to donate. "We don't give up on them. Every saint has a past, every sinner has a future, so we'll keep working."
The pledges are not legally binding, but are a moral commitment, with most donors promising to donate their fortunes to their own foundations or favored causes.
Buffett himself promised to give away 99 percent of his fortune to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in 2006. Oracle founder Larry Ellison said the bulk of his $28 billion fortune is already in trust, with 95 percent of it dedicated to charitable causes.
Likewise, Barron Hilton, of the eponymous hotel chain and grandfather of Paris Hilton, said 97 percent of his $2.3 billion fortune will go to his charitable foundation.
If every member of the Forbes 400 list of wealthiest Americans followed suit and donated half of their net worth to charity, it would total $600 billion, according to a tally by Fortune magazine.

Now then, if we have to talk about cheap publicity stunts, this is it.

"Let's give away half our own known monies, let them think we care!!"

they are not giving away their billions, they are simply giving away money they stole from society over the last 40 years by overcharging customers and creating market bubbles and avoiding taxes

    how charitable indeed

Great , donate some of it to the ' Bangyai falang preservation hospice ' and we pledge to give half of the recieved funds to another charity. We are eager to participate in this benevolent display of largess but need assistance to fulfil our generous disposition.

charity has always been a big business, 30% of their budget is used to raise funds,

basically that means organizing charity events and pay their staff lavish salary

    Like Vietnam ?

People (especially children) die every year from the easter eggs that the generous yankees left behind. I don't think the U.S. has enough money to pay for the fuc* ups they left behind.

it's not crap, it's becoming more and more relevant these days,

last week in St Tropez at the Voile Rouge, silly Paris Hilton spent 450,000 EUROS on a champagne competition with another guest at the beach. The idea was to throw away the champagne over some non-sense in the pool.

It's obvious that the rich have too much money and don't know what to do with it. Society shouldn't let that kind of abuses go unpunished. Heavy taxation of the rich instead of the mass taxation of the "middle class" is the solution.

Bingo, Hell they just love the money, they dont even care about it. Just tax them at 30% and all will be well. Who cares if they scream and yell. Making money is all they care about, so they will make more with the tax hit. Close up the fukcing loopholes as well. Just is not right they can buy houses, cars, boats, property they dont give a shit about and wont really use. Why do they buy them? So they dont have to pay tax on that money. Hell just tax them that much.

there is something fundamentally wrong when 95% of the population in a rich country is paid the minimum wage while the remaining 5% get all the profit

giving them opiate through American Idol and all kind of consumers products to appease them is obscene !!!

we need a return to good traditional socialism, and seize all those assets to build schools, roads and all kind of infrastructure.

...........thereby ensuring that they remain screwed-up countries that can't support themselves because the cunts will continue to breed more than they can feed.
denmark and the other ignorant kunts in that part of the world haven't a fukkn clue how their "generosity" negatively affects those that they help.

The great socialist mistake is the assumption that government will spend money more wisely than private wealth.

This has never been the case. Repeatedly socialist governments have been shown to squander wealth more than so called democratic republics.

    .
it's all quite simple really, butterfly.
most workers get paid a wage/salary relative to their productivity.

the 5% who "get all the profit" are the ones who GENERATE THE MONEY that pays the taxes to keep all the lazy socialist bastards collecting welfare cheques etc.
the 95% would starve to death were it not for the 5% who somehow still find it worthwhile to keep on running their businesses in spite of having to deal with crippling taxation and the lazy bastids that work for them, who are perpetually trying to destroy that which feeds them, via strike action etc.
the 95% do not DESERVE to live any better!

This is, of course, total bullshit. Fortune ranked Walmart as being the largest corp. in the world in 2010. Would Walmart be what it is today if Sam Walton was the only guy who ever put in effort? No. Walmart is what it is because it is very good at taking advantage of people from the guys that work for nothing in China to the people working for the company at the stores in the states who qualify for welfare because they make so little. They all GENERATE THE MONEY. The lowest paid American workers pay the same for goods and services as the CEO of the company they work for in their daily lives. Working For? That is the problem. Working for, instead of working WITH. You work with someone you understand the importance of their function in the process. This gives them value and a sense of respect. You think of someone as working for you and you see them as only a number and how much greater your importance is. They feel of little worth and act accordingly in many cases.

I worked for a company years ago and the CEO would get bonus checks that were greater than the amount of money I would make working there for the rest of my life. A bonus check could buy him a nice home, a few cars, pay his children's way through college, provide his family with health care, and offer comforts that many people will never be able to afford.

This kind of comment chaps my ass.

..because he deserved the bonus check.
some people work for a salary.
some people take the risks and create employment for the lazy 9 to 5 fuks who go through the motions in their safe little environments, and knock off at 5.
the ceo has to perform and his bonus check is commensurate with his performance, and he won't be going home at 5 or going on strike.
if he is responsible for generating an extra billion in profits for the year, then a million or ten in bonus is peanuts.
the slackers at the bottom are easily replaceable,-a good ceo is not, and shit like strike action simply pits management against the workers who "work with" (????) them
there is no point in starting a business simply to create employment for people.
very few businesses grow into mega empires and those that do, do so because of the people AT THE TOP.- the dedicated few who put the growth of the business before thier own free time and even their family lives.
creation of employment is simply a by-product, not a goal, and those that benefit by actually being able to draw a salary every month on the backs of those that created the employment in the first place, should s.t.f.u and be grateful that they have gainfull employmentl, or simply go start their own empires if they so wish (or are capable of doing in the first place)

Wonder if CEO's spend any amount of time on internet forums?

I don't think I've ever heard of this being espoused in all my self-help "7 Top Habits Of Motivated Top Blokes" type books. Hmm..

Amazes me the unadulterated envy being spouted here.

These rare individuals have the intelligence and talent to capitalise on conditions to make piles of money, I'd venture not all of it on the white side of the line, but it's theirs and therefore theirs to do with as they please.

As others have said, not one of them made their money alone in a back room; they all made theirs by heading teams of similarly devoted people. In the process they improved the lives of others by providing employment as well as goods and services which millions of people willingly paid for. However distasteful that may be to career losers, in the real world it's how companies manage to turn a profit even after paying thousands of salaries each month. If there's something wrong with this then let's do away with capitalism and the free markets in favour of basket case ideals designed to control the plebs under the guise of freeing them, which history shows is doomed to failure outside the unfettered imagination of wannabe despots.

If these people wish to give away all or some of their money that's fine with me. If they opt for a shroud with deep pockets that's ok too.
