Owner Jailed For Vicious Attack On Dog

A dog owner has been jailed for an "horrific" attack on his pet that was caught on CCTV.




Simeon Major displayed the 'most appalling public display of violence'




Simeon Major, 19, goaded the Staffordshire bull terrier with an umbrella and kicked her four to five times as he showed off to friends in Luton, Bedfordshire.


At one stage he dragged the seven-month-old bitch up on to a wall and punched her, sending her falling to the ground.


Four minutes of CCTV footage was played to Luton magistrates.
It shows the attack taking place outside a hostel on March 29.

Prosecutor Mark Jones said: "He was goading the animal with an umbrella. There were four or five kicks to the dog. The dog showed no aggression to the defendant whatsoever."


When interviewed by the RSPCA, Major said: "I just don't know what was going through my brain... (it was) just a mistake."


The unemployed father-of-one pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.


He was also in breach of a suspended sentence for possessing cannabis, having an offensive weapon and a bail act offence.


Kajal Doshi, defending, said Major could not understand why he carried out the attack.


"He was showing off before other people," she said.
District Judge Carolyn Mellanby sentenced him to 16 weeks in a young offenders' institution - eight weeks for the attack on the dog and another eight for the breach of the suspended sentence.


She disqualified him from keeping any animal for 10 years.
She told him: "This was a most appalling public display of violence. It was quite horrific. You punched and kicked a defenceless animal over a significant period of time in front of other people. It was most shameful behaviour."


Outside the court, RSPCA Inspector Peter Warne said: "The sad thing is that Major will not say where the dog is now.
"He says he has given it to a friend, but I have my doubts."

If Ian Huntley wins his case 12Call you can be assured that he will never live long enough to receive/spend it. He did things to those two lovely girls that can never be revealed to the public and that is probably the reason why he receives little protection whilst in prison.

It probably is the norm in the UK that a 19 year old, having been convicted of possessing cannabis, an offensive weapon and a bail act offence, only receives a suspended sentence.
I am with Crazy Dog on this one as surprisingly we hear no mention from the apologists concerning this guys character when it comes to beating a defenceless animal yet if he were to assault a citizen in the same manner then his difficult upbringing most likely would be mentioned.

The District Judge in this case was quite correct in giving him a custodial sentence althoough i am surprised that he did not receive a longer sentence/fine for refusing to divulge the whereabouts of the dog to the authorities.

After taking a beating the dog looked like she still loved him, poor thing


Unfortunately there is a high probability he has beat the dog to death after he got caught.
