English girls 11 and 12 yrs old on the pill.

This is a bit of a WTF is going on with people these days.
What I find particularly disturbing is that the doctors are permitted to give these girls the pill without telling the parents.
More than 1,000 girls aged 11 and 12 are on the pill

The number of girls aged 11 and 12 who have been prescribed the contraceptive pill has risen five-fold in a decade, according to new figures.

    By Laura Donnelly, Health Correspondent
    Published: 7:45AM BST 01 Aug 2010

More than 1,000 girls aged 11 and 12 have been prescribed the pill by their GPs, while a further 200 girls between 11 and 13 have been given long-term injections and implanted contraceptive devices.

The figures come from the General Practice research database, which collects prescribing information from 500 GPs practices covering a sample of four million people.

The majority of such prescriptions are usually issued to girls without the consent of their parents. Doctors may prescribe the pill to such girls, even though the age of consent is 16.
The database also shows that at least 58,000 15-year-olds were on the pill last year, compared with 23,000 in 1999.
Trevor Stamners, a member of the British Medical Association's expert panel on sexual health, said the figures demonstrated that the UK was "facilitating the sexualisation of young people at an ever younger age".
He said he feared the situation would worsen, following proposals to introduce sex education for children as young as five.
Dr Steve Field, chairman of the Royal College of General Practitioners, said doctors would only prescribe the pill to such young girls if they thought it was the best way forward.
"Every doctor would have a proper conversation with the girl," he said.

possibly more disturbing is the parents lack of knowledge concerning their children .

which may just be a justification for the Dr prescribing the medication ?

I don't see it being justification for not informing them.
Just because they don't know already doesn't mean they shouldn't be told.
    And it's not medication.
The reason is obvious, if doctors have to report it to the parents the girls won't go to the doctor and so these young girls will be having babies.
Just wtf is going on. I do despair for society.

The government will approve such things because it's well know to make women infertile, just as much of the food we eat does.

Yes, all good and well, but what part of the parents job are you suggesting the doctor is now expected to do?

protect them from early/unwanted pregnancy , kinda obvious I would of though .

fact is your horror is misplaced , direct it not at the Dr but rather at the parents for it is they who failed.

A crime is being committed. Without the ability to give informed consent, these girls are being raped.

"If your daughter has recently started taking oral contraceptive pills or is thinking about taking them, you probably have some questions and worries of your own. You may have heard some things about oral contraceptives that seem risky or unsafe. Hopefully, the following information can answer some of your questions and help relieve your mind.

Adolescent girls and young women are frequently prescribed oral contraceptive pills for irregular menstrual periods, menstrual cramps, PMS, and hormone replacement therapy."

Oral Contraceptive Pills and Teens: A Guide for Parents
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxx

This can be the mainly reason why young girls of 11/12 have been prescribed the contraceptive pill.

Newspapers, always like to misinterpret the facts, generally it sells better.

Well it looks like all the millions that government's spend on condom use isn't working for all their targets.

Whilst this news is deplorable, and especially as I have a daughter in that same age group, sometimes kids just will do what they want regardless of their upbringing.

I blame things like media advertisements, even the internet as being the cause making children want to grow up to quickly.

And what's a GP to do? He may suggest counseling which most adolescents see as threatening, refuse to sign a prescription card and tell the girls to go somewhere else or oblige knowing that at least the girls will have some form of protection with follow up medical care.

Touch wood, I have never had a problem with any of my daughters and feel grateful about the fact they all have decided to take the sensible option and wait.

Not at all, so you think the pill, other than to prevent pregnancy is in fact good for you. So ask yourself why the sperm count of the human race has dropped dramatically over the last ten years.

And these girls are being rutted by whom?

By some older, gentle man who could inculcate them into the mysteries of 'l'amour'?

    No, by some wispy-pubed youf.....

"My boyfriend", as she prissily describes him. Oh, yes, he is such a trophy isn't he.

And how does he perform his task? Does his tongue flicker around her ganderparts as if t'were a ripe young peach. No, he grabs her oobily-boubilies as if they were the handles of his motorbike, rutting half a dozen times, before withdrawing and ejaculating over her face with an atavistic grunt.

    I love oral contraception.
Come in the mouth, not in the snatch.
    Seriously though.
Are doctors here not aiding a crime?
Teenage pregnancy is not good but expecting parents to stop it is unrealistic, 12 year old girls have huge urges, new flood of hormones etc.
Fuck me when I was 12 I used to get a hard on just by looking at a house brick.
And the 13 year old girls round here, in LOS, are horny little vixens and bang like the shit house door when the plague is in town.
Falling asleep and waking up is not the same as passing out and coming to.

    BS !!!
In fact women of the past didn't have periods as much as women do today, they were pregnant too much of the time
It is proven that the cell regeneration that occurs with menstruation has a bearing on the chance of cells mutating into cancers. Less periods, less chance of cancer and I think those injections get menstruation down to once or twice a year.

Girls are menstruating earlier because, and what's causing infertility- in MEN - is plastic in our foods mimicking female hormones.

This is where the Third World wins over the west. While people there in their teens, twenties and thirties are all obsessing about sex, and why they're not getting it in quantity, over in the third world they are uncomplicated and find that 'the best things in life are free' ..... and 13 year old boys are nobbing left, right and centre......who cares then about a Playstation?

12 year old goes to Doc over some gynecological problem related to puberty and the kid admits to being sexually active. WTF is the Doc expected to do but offer some advice and assistance on how to avoid an unwanted pregnancy. Should the Doc tell the kid that instead of offering assistance he/she is going to have to talk to the parents first? Half the parents in that situation wouldn't give a fuck what happened to their daughter. And the other half would more than likely treat the kid like a prisoner until she rebelled and either ran away with her true love or got herself pregnant.

In theory yes, of course, regardless of how the parents would react.
Unfortunately that would lead to the situation where the kids wouldn't go to the doctor for fear of their parents finding out which could lead to worse situations.
    it's a difficult one.
Society is letting these kids down somehow. perhaps by mollycoddling them too much.
Maybe a good slapping is what someof these kids need (or the fear of one).
i don't have any answers but something is royally wrong with society today.

Maybe allowing pervasive religions to demonize healthy sexuality as " sin" is taking its toll ?
