    Sham UK marriage

Illegal groom only knew sham bride was 'big, black and liked burgers'

Illegal immigrant Mojeed Bello knew very little about his bride-to-be – only that she was: ‘big, black, liked smoking – and chicken burgers’.

Nigerian Bello, 31, hoped to marry Dutch national Carina Merselina in a sham wedding so he could continue living in the UK. But the lack of romance between the ‘couple’ rang alarm bells when they met the Rev Robert Simpson, vicar of St James Church, Gloucester.

Prosecutor Martin Steen told Gloucester crown court the vicar was not impressed when he met them at his church, or when he visited the place they said they lived. Mr Steen told the court: ‘He determined the marriage was a sham and reported it to police.’ Police arrested the pair days later.

Bello, 31, of Peckham, south London, told police he first met Carina at Notting Hill Carnival, but Mr Steen told the court: ‘He appeared to know little about her except that she was big, black and liked smoking and chicken burgers.’ When they quizzed Merselina, 25, she admitted she was recruited in Holland to travel here and marry Bello for £3,000. She went to Gloucester with her sister Loreen to ‘add verisimilitude’ to the plan.

Bello, Merselina and sister Loreen, 35, both of no fixed address, admitted conspiracy to secure the avoidance of Bello being deported. Judge William Hart jailed Bello for 14 months, Carina Merselina for a year and Loreen Merselina for 300 days. Another man involved in the scam, Aderojo Babatunde, was sentenced at an earlier hearing to 300 days’ prison after admitting a similar offence.

Judge Hart said they had ‘engaged in a cynical commercial arrangement to try to flout UK immigration law. ‘This sort of offence is becoming somewhat prevalent – it strikes at the very heart of the UK system for regulating the population.’

Alas and alack, no mention of their deportation after serving time for their crime. Oh bless me, I forgot, we must offer them succour and sanctuary because of their 'human rights'.

I say kick the lot of them out of the country.

Good to see that the UK can still attract quality immigrants...even with the downturn in currency values...and threats of reductions in benefit payments...

i'me afraid this is what Great Britain has become, a haven for scammers, you keep giving a safety net of benefits, free housing, free health care etc etc and your going to attract these kind of people, the news of scam marriage's, benefit cheats and illegal Aliens is old news, pity more Reverends don't pick up a phone more often!!,

I had a friend who wanted me to marry a man from Nigeria. He would pay me 10,000 swissies and he would get a Swiss passport.

It all fell through when I announced that i didn't have a Swiss passport - but would an Irish one do?!!!!

And as the friend was thick, I could have got away with a Scottish one!!!

PS - my future husband actually called me up and started to shout down the phone. You don't like me etc. etc.

I had never set eyes on him...

    Oh, Patsy, I love you...

    Take a flying fuck. Basta.

Can you imagine some smelly man sitting on your couch pretending to be your husband? All for a bit of cash, which you probably haven't seen a cent of?

    Yucksville.
